So the sports day thread where the child was victimised for being slow and adopted has been pulled and seems not to be genuine. Why would someone do that?

Thank you madrigals!

I am rubbish at spotting trolls. Quite shocked to hear Nursey Wursey was a troll - what exactly happened there? I remember her commenting on a nursing thread and believing her.

PrincessBabyCat · 16/06/2014 19:28

That's because in real life there are no black and white victimization. Most victims contribute to their own exclusion or "mistreatment", and there's almost always a reasonable other side to a story.

It's very rarely read:never some angelic child/person being disliked simply because they have green eyes or something that makes them appear different.

Alisvolatpropiis · 16/06/2014 19:33

Oi Princess there's nothing wrong with green eyes! Grin

In RL people have lied to me quite blatantly - I can think of 3 people particularly who I caught out, I found it very shocking because despite usually being cynical I like to try and think the best of people.

BOFster · 16/06/2014 19:51

I think most trolls make this shit up out of simple boredom and immaturity. It's the 2014 version of kids on a sleepover making prank phone calls or playing knock and run.

BOFster · 16/06/2014 20:00

Oh, and a handful are misogynistic blokes who like duping a community of women so they can continue to feel superior, often sniggering away to their mates at us. I remember once being told the identity of one- he is a minor ex-band member of a nineties group who now writes dramatic "true life" stories for downmarket magazines. I daresay he roadtests many of them here first.

On the news today was a story about a teacher being struck off because she lied about having rare stomach cancer, even asking co-workers to be tested for a bone marrow transplant!
