exceeded the targets for the MN giving week?

Here's the thread link:
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/site_stuff/2087731-Giving-Week-is-here-donate-funds-to-MNer-nominated-organisations-and-MNHQ-will-match-them?msgid=47541127

Wikipedia tells me that there are 4,800,000 monthly users of MN. So if we all just get a quid each, that'd be £4.8m. So £25k should be more than achievable.

I see that some of the causes have reached their target, but what Womens' Aid have only had just over a grand.

MN are offering to match our donations, and there's gift aid too, so it's a very effective way of donating.

A quid each. More if you can afford it.

Not the way to encourage people to donate; it occurred to me that I have freely donated £15 this weekend alone by sponsoring two charity runs and church collection. My choice entirely, but I am not endeared by the tone or language used by the original poster; I collect house to house and if I spoke to people in that hectoring way they would be entirely justified in slamming their doors in my face.

But a new website, which appeals to donors and sponsors, and makes services easier to access is a direct benefit to service users.

Agree with you there HopALong - And Free Cakes For Kids has just met it's target thanks to an end of Giving Week pledge from Justine and HQ to top them up the last bit to help them meet their target.
They're nice like that Smile

Ha!
Only on Aibu would you be called a "swivel eyed loon" by saying an ops post was rude and pushy.
I choose what charities I give to, thanks.
Someone telling me to donate NOW as the the ops did will only serve to make me think "no, piss off"
So....swivel eyed loon it is!

You knowing always had my suspicions that some common thuggery was occurring whilst the love woolly hugs ladies were giving me advice, guidance and praise for my slightly questionable squares. Wink

How very selfish of them to spend their free time bringing comfort to others! won't someone please think of the children?!....... Oh wait... Grin

Thanks for the reminder - I am one of the people who did not fully understand there was a limited window which is no doubt a bit stupid of me, given the 'week' in the title :)

I have done it :)

The total giving came to £11,300 which MNHQ has kindly matched.

You can carry on donating but MN will not be matching any further donations.

It's shame MNHQ didn't do this nearer Xmas IMHO.
I know I try to give more at Xmas (Salvation Army, shelter etc)
Maybe an idea?
