To be annoyed with the person next to me in the car park

It's a lovely sunny day, nice and quiet in a small car park about to collect the DCs from school and the idiot in the black BMW next to me has been sitting with their engine running for the last ten minutes, really, thus spoiling my quiet time and polluting the air as well.
I wish I had the guts to say something....

YANBU - however a possible explanation seeing as it's a black car, is that it was really hot in there so they had the air conditioning on, and didn't want to flatten their battery.

Bearbehind · 06/06/2014 14:44

Er- drive somewhere else for your 'quiet time' then. Hmm

He might be keeping his air con on while he works in his car?

HannerHet · 06/06/2014 14:46

Yabu

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 06/06/2014 14:46

That's the trouble with car parks - full of cars.

I'd love to know what you would say - I know you're in a car and it's in a car park but please can you turn your engine off so I can enjoy my quiet time - I reckon you'd make his day!

BlondieBrownie · 06/06/2014 14:54

YABU.

It's a car park Confused

EyelinerQueen · 06/06/2014 14:56

Oh please say something to him OP you loon Grin .

YABU btw.

MrsRuffdiamond · 06/06/2014 14:56

Oh, dear, I do this, and yes, it's to keep cool. I've often wondered if anyone is secretly judging me. Now I know!

AndHarry · 06/06/2014 14:57

Why are you there 20 minutes early? Bagging a space? Walk next time!

Ahem :o

MargotLovedTom · 06/06/2014 14:59

Why doesn't he get out of the car if he's that hot?

I hate cars idling for ages I have to admit.

Canus · 06/06/2014 14:59

Jesus OP, whatever you do don't go into the school building to escape the car in the car park.

The people might be breathing and all sorts. Grin

hmc · 06/06/2014 15:00

YANBU - In that it's a waste of fuel and an unnecessary pollutant. If he wants to keep cool and work in his car then he should open his windows.

AgaPanthers · 06/06/2014 15:01

If it's a lovely sunny day, what the bloody hell are you doing sitting in your car?

Sparklingbrook · 06/06/2014 15:02

If it's the car park I am thinking of it's to zoom off quickly before the gridlock starts. Grin

chipshop · 06/06/2014 15:10

I do this a lot because I'm charging my iPhone, which has a pretty crap battery.

YoureBeingASillyBilly · 06/06/2014 15:15
Confused

You expected not to hear car engines in a car park? Really?

YABU. Very much So.

TheReluctantCountess · 06/06/2014 15:17

There is a cur running in a car park. Shocking.

TheReluctantCountess · 06/06/2014 15:17

Cur? Car.

PostmanPatAlwaysRingsTwice · 06/06/2014 15:21

Oh dear. I never do this this but am right now because the small yins are asleep and it's boiling. But I'm not in a BMW or in a car park so not offending the OP, phew.

Bogeyface · 06/06/2014 15:25

I was pissed off with the twat next to me. He parked up all windows open with his music blaring so loudly that DD put her hands over her ears and our windows were shut. When I opened the door to get her out she started crying as it frightened her.

Ass hole, he was in an Audi though.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 06/06/2014 15:26

YANBU. Its an offence in Scotland, don't know about rest of UK.

LadySybilLikesCake · 06/06/2014 15:28

My neighbour used to do this. He'd start his engine at 7am then piss off inside for 30 minutes, leaving it running. I didn't need an alarm clock! Angry

Mintyy · 06/06/2014 15:30

"Yabu, bloody nosy busybody. What's is got to so with you Confused"

Do you honestly think that is a reasonable way to answer this op CoffeeTea? You are so consistently rude to everyone and frankly I am sick of seeing it - so much so that I have done something I very rarely do and reported your post to HQ.
