To be annoyed with the person next to me in the car park

It's a lovely sunny day, nice and quiet in a small car park about to collect the DCs from school and the idiot in the black BMW next to me has been sitting with their engine running for the last ten minutes, really, thus spoiling my quiet time and polluting the air as well.
I wish I had the guts to say something....

he'll have the air-con running, is my guess. YANBU, I'd be right annoyed.

YoureBeingASillyBilly · 06/06/2014 15:31

Agree with you there mintyy

OnIlkleyMoorBahTwat · 06/06/2014 15:33

I'm with the OP on this one. It's always something like a BMW isn't it?

Showing off that they have so much money that they don't worry about the cost of petrol and don't give a toss about everyone else and the environment.

SpottieDottie · 06/06/2014 17:39

Sparkling no, it was one of the others!
I was late leaving work and didn't have time to go home first so parked up and went for a walk in the park - or rather to sit on the park bench with my Kindle. That said, I do park in the other car park every day as well - probably seen you in there without knowing (up the back by the trees near the canal)

Obviously I didn't talk to him, was joking about that bit.

YANBU. Pisses me off too.

Even more so when the bloody bus driver used to sit with his bus idling for 20 minutes at 5.30am.

Sparklingbrook · 06/06/2014 17:44

I thought it was the First School one Spottie. Terrifying.

Long time since I have done a Primary pick up in either car park thankfully. The one by the canal is awful, and people can't park in it properly IMO. Anyway what were you doing bothering with a car park? Pulling up on the grass verges on the main road by the pedestrian crossing is the way to go surely or on the zig zags in the layby?

TheFairyCaravan · 06/06/2014 17:45

I don't turn my engine off if it's hot and I'm waiting because I like my air con. It wouldn't be for 20 minutes, though, because I am never that early!

Sparklingbrook · 06/06/2014 17:52

I would rather be a bit warm than waste the fuel/annoy everyone. Wind the windows down or get out of the car. It's the UK, it's not that hot. Grin

SpottieDottie · 06/06/2014 18:41

I will remember that advice for Monday then Sparkling :)

Gives me the rage Spottie. I passed about 2.15 the other day and they were pulling up on the verges already. Shock People are weird.

One year there was a trip that came back about 5pm, loads of children on it-4 coachfuls. So where did the parents park? Oh yes-in the bus bay. Hmm

BlackeyedSusan · 06/06/2014 18:46

the waste of fuel/pollution would annoy me most. how pissed off I am with peoples parking is the barometer to when my period is due. If I am pissed off at perfectly reasonable parking it is time for everyone to run for cover for twenty four hours.

ThursdayLast · 06/06/2014 18:48

I don't think you're being unreasonable.
I hate when cars idle for no reason. I don't count air con as a valid reason

BlackeyedSusan · 06/06/2014 18:49

seriously lacking in intelligence there sparkling.

I did get my own back on someone who had pulled all four wheels right up into the middle of the pavement on the corner of a road. ds tripped me up as we were edging round his car and I sat on his bonnet. I am not a lightweight.

Salmotrutta · 06/06/2014 18:49

I like the idea of a cur running in a car park Grin

Catsize · 06/06/2014 18:50

YANBU. Selfish selfish selfish. On all sorts of levels.

Sparklingbrook · 06/06/2014 18:51

Ah so they weren't causing a blockage on the road then Susan-very thoughtful, just be in the way of the pedestrians instead. Did he glare?

missuswife · 06/06/2014 20:37

YANBU, it's an offense where I live.

SpottieDottie · 06/06/2014 21:43

Susan Sparkling and I were having a joke since we both have frequented the same school car park, sadly many people feel it is,acceptable block the bus bay so school, buses can't get in and block the road by parking on the verges etc etc. the traffic warden would have a field day....

OP posts:
SpottieDottie · 06/06/2014 21:44

Oh crap, sorry Susan, tired and read your message wrongly...idiot me!

RedRoom · 06/06/2014 21:52

If it were 5am and you had a car running under your bedroom window, you'd be reasonable, but this is in a car park! Go to a grassy park if you want tranquility...

limitedperiodonly · 06/06/2014 21:55

I would check in case he had a hose pipe running from the exhaust to one of the windows. Just because someone drives a BMW doesn't mean they have no worries.

limitedperiodonly · 06/06/2014 21:56

I've just noticed the time of the original post. If that was the case, it's a bit late now Sad

Nicknacky · 06/06/2014 21:57

I would do this without giving it a second thought. Warm day, keeping the air con on for baby and I. Why get your self annoyed about it?

Sparklingbrook · 06/06/2014 22:00

It's just inconsiderate. but there's a lot of it about sadly. Especially around school run time.

SpottieDottie · 06/06/2014 22:00

Limited, no nothing like that, I'd have noticed.
