I just feel you need to go over them with a fine toothcomb to prevent any thread you start from being totally derailed by someone either missing the point, or maliciously picking you up on a particular word to start a bun fight. Sometimes it's like trying to write a legal document, you have to be so careful not to leave any loopholes.

I see it abit differently. Thinking about your impact is a key part of effective writing.

You're right OP. But I'm quite sadistic and relish the challenge. I like to consider every possible permeation that could be be misinterpreted and present all sides as fairly as possible. I accept this is really sad. And it actually makes for boring AIBUs as they rarely descend into bunfights interesting debates . I really Must Try Harder.

I know meditrina, but sometimes there's so many qualifications in an opening post that the whole thing is hard to read. eg I know this child doesn't have special needs and that the family don't have money worries. I also know they have GPs nearby who are willing to babysit and on and on.

YANBU. It's nasty and tedious and it means stressed out posters needing help won't bother because it needs thinking about too much.

I know what you mean - and drip feeding is the WORST!

I've never planned to drip feed,though. It's just I've added stuff as people ask questions and then you get someone accusing you of drip feeding!

Even when you do insert qualifiers you still get some knob attacking you for something you went to great lengths to ensure couldn't be taken up wrongly. eg

O - P AIBU to get really irritated when people complain about their children not being included in wedding invitations. Obviously I don't mean BF babies, but older children.......

Knob - YABU. I am BF my baby so what am I supposed to do?

Also I know for a fact that some really witty and insightful posters don't bother to post at all anymore because of this. It feels like that boards are being taken over by petty, picky for the sake of it nasty arses. I think they think they're cleaning the place up but they're not they're just making it really boring and joyless here.

Yes the constant shrieks of "drip feeding" as though it's an immoral crime.

If everyone always put every single remotely relevant detail the OP would be miles long and no one would bother. Also it's subjective, details that a poster considers massively relevant to their opinion may not have then crossed the OP's mind or they may be trying not to share too much detail for fear of recognition.

putting in every single detail makes situations very identifiable. i think people should come back and say that they're not comfortable elaborated more. Instead they kept ripped apart from not having correctly pre-empted what various strangers would ask.

There are some really snarky know-it-alls about who jump on and start issuing the law. As soon as they post on a thread, its like the police have arrived and you have to watch how you word things.

I avoid avoid avoid when threads turn out like that...

I am trying to learn to just withdraw from a thread when some bellend starts that carry on. TBH I can't always tell immediately if they're stirring it or if they're just not very bright so sometimes I wade in to try and explain and find myself in the middle of a catfight.

It is crap.

All these accusations of dripfeeding, in my day we would call it a conversation.

I rarely post threads, unless I actually fancy an interrogation...
