To have phoned the police on our neighbours

They just tried to force their way into our house Sad I can't breath.
This is the same neighbour who was on loudspeaker in the garden to his wife the other day moaning
about our fucking kids winding his dogs up. This is also the same neighbour who has continually taken over length by length our front garden. When today for the first time I asked him not to I got a tirade of abuse from him.

what? how is that not threatening?

kappadelta · 01/06/2014 01:35

God knows I did ask that repeatedly but just got the same answer. There is a slight mistake on our deeds, any chance of getting our builder to buy back our house?

PacificDogwood · 01/06/2014 01:36

No, I suppose that was not 'threatening' that was actually 'forcing entry'.
At least the incident will be logged.
I have not idea what that means for your house sale.

Hope you get some sleep tonight.

kappadelta · 01/06/2014 01:37

Thanks pacific x

Just read the thread... gobsmacked for you. IME, police can be worse than useless. I would be tempted to throw a bucket of grass killer over their precious garden.

SavoyCabbage · 01/06/2014 02:59

Our deeds said that our neighbours car parking space was in front of their own house but when they built it they built it over our doorstep. Not over but in front. So they could and did park their car over our doorstep so we couldn't get our if the house. That part is not relevant though.

Anyway, what was built did not match with the land registry so even without the neighbour issue we could not have sold it. So we got the builder to 'buy' it back from us if we bought another house from them on another development. Which we did.

PrincessBabyCat · 01/06/2014 04:44

What? They tried to force entry and that's not threatening??

What are you self defense laws? Can you get aggressive with them if they go on your property again?

I'm always astounded by all the shitty neighbors on MN. We always have nice neighbors here. We're also allowed to kill our neighbors if they step foot on our property. Maybe that's why we all get along. Grin

(It's a joke. You can't really shoot them for no reason. You have to feel reasonably threatened first)

Clutterbugsmum · 01/06/2014 08:27

I think you should do 2 things tomorrow.

1 - put in a complaint to the polie about the lack of support from the police. Of course it's theatening when some tries to force entry into your home uninvited.

2 - speak to a solicitor about a how you can stop your neighbour from both harrassing you and your family, and about your taking your property. And what you can do about fencing in you garden.

FIROR12 · 01/06/2014 08:42

This sounds awful, what horrid neighbours. Hope you are ok.

I would also install a security camera, hopefully it will be a deterrent if nothing else.

It's horrid that people get away with being bullies.

It definitely sounds like threatening behaviour to me, do you have a community policeman designated for your area? These can often be more helpful and willing to offer advice.

kappadelta · 01/06/2014 09:09

Thanks clutter - I will definitely be taking your advice.

FIR - they are passing it onto the police community support officers who will be contacting me. Only got 4 hours sleep I feel like rubbish x

When I had a problem with a nightmare neighbour, the PCSO 'had a word' with him, which did help. Even though the police said that the neighbour's behaviour was not against the law, they took on board that I was frightened of him.

After the police spoke to him, the neighbour never said another word directly to me. He did have a rather dramatic way of blanking me, though.

When I eventually sold the house, I put something general and bland in the information for the buyers. They never queried it.

kappadelta · 01/06/2014 09:31

Fubsy - it's good to hear something positive thank you for sharing. I have an appointment tomorrow evening for PCSO to come see me.

Tinkerball · 01/06/2014 09:38

I can totally sympathise as we moved 2 years ago because of nightmare neighbours, main perpetrator being the 11 year old son who was bullying our son.

MiscellaneousAssortment · 01/06/2014 09:57

This is awful, I don't understand why the police took so long and weren't helpful when they finally got there. Did they not think it was important that you were scared?

kappadelta · 01/06/2014 10:17

I told them that I was scared for myself and my family. I also said that as the neighbours are functioning alcoholics I believed that reasoning with them would not work.

kappadelta · 01/06/2014 11:20

I have been to the sales office and spoken to them. I've raised the issue that our NDN seems to think the builders have put the back fence in the wrong place. They are trying to find someone to speak to me today.

OP posts:
SavoyCabbage · 01/06/2014 11:45

You need to get the information from the land registry. It's not expensive but even if it was you have to know what the situation is. I doubt the builder are going to tell you they they made a mistake without you having any evidence. For want of a better word.

I wouldn't get CCTV if you are trying to sell the house.

kappadelta · 01/06/2014 12:08

Savoy land registry is vague but I also have a copy from our solicitor of the actual plan in more detail.

OP posts:
kappadelta · 01/06/2014 12:10

Fub - how did he blank you?

OP posts:
fubbsy · 01/06/2014 20:02

It was funny really, what he did. He would see me walking along, glare at me from a distance, but when I passed by him he would be absorbed in conversation or have his back to me or otherwise pretend not to notice me.

MacenroeTheBoatAshore · 02/06/2014 16:45

OP how are things now? any more trouble? hope not.

kappadelta · 02/06/2014 19:56

Hi Mac - things have been calm but we have an appointment with our community police this evening who should be going round for a chat with next door. Hmm

OP posts:
MacenroeTheBoatAshore · 02/06/2014 20:03

can the comm police go back to yours after talking to them? without them seeing? the neighbours may kick off after a visit, and having a police officer with you for maybe an hour after to see?

I really do feel for you, weve been in similar situations.

kappadelta · 03/06/2014 19:11

I was at work when they went round today. Apparently they acknowledged that they were out of line.Hmm
