Asda launches wearable England flag

Asda execs can't see anything wrong with this. At all?

YANBU. Nothing to do with flags, wouldn't matter if it had pictures of unicorns and fairies on the back it would immediately bring the kkk to my mind. Terribly unfortunate design.

mrsbucketxx · 30/05/2014 16:12

is my dd's hood offensive too

Oh COME ON, Asda!
slithytove · 30/05/2014 16:13

mrsbucket, your DD is absolutely gorgeous - what a happy wee face Grin

QueenStromba · 30/05/2014 16:15

Looked like a KKK robe to me too without reading what the issue was.

mrsbucketxx · 30/05/2014 16:18

thank you shouldhave

StarGazeyPond · 30/05/2014 16:32

The England flag part of it does not offend me.

Well, whoopee doo, I am soooooo grateful.

MrsKoala · 30/05/2014 16:33

i saw kkk robe too before i even read down the thread. and mrsbucket your dd is gorgeous, but had that outfit been white i probably would have made a joke about it looking like a clan outfit. sorry. All white outfits with pointy hoods just mean kkk to me. i wouldn't get offended by them, but i would think the designers may have thought about it a bit more. But as loads of other people just don't see it, i guess i am odd Grin

MrsKoala · 30/05/2014 16:35

oh and i'm English and wear the flag as does ds. just not white pointy hooded cloaks with flags on!

Cravey · 30/05/2014 16:39

Hate to say this but I've seen a real klan uniform on someone and that looks nothing like it. It does however resemble a nasty cheap towel thrown round his head and shoulders.

Deverethemuzzler · 30/05/2014 16:41

LOL @ that anorak being patriotic.

Is is bollocks.

If it wasn't' for sport and the EDL half this country wouldn't know a English flag if they were twatted in the face with it.

Nothing wrong with being patriotic as far as I am concerned but plastering flags on ugly fashion items is hardly what made Great Britain great is it?

I reckon good percentage of people who stick the flag up do it in the hope that they will be told to take it down.

perfectview · 30/05/2014 16:46

What I thought was, 'how are people supposed to see where they're going?'

Canus · 30/05/2014 17:31

Grin perfectview

Fefifo · 30/05/2014 18:07

Discussing this on LBC now

newsecretidentity · 30/05/2014 18:19

As an American, I wouldn't be happy with it. It doesn't look like one of the (current) actual KKK robes, but it does look like a cheap costume parody of one.

Having grown up where I did, it really does touch a nerve in the same way that wearing a swastika or a confederate flag would.

BuzzardBird · 30/05/2014 18:24

Well Walmart (American) owns Asda, so that proves it! Grin

Devere that really made me laugh Grin so true.

SelfconfessedSpoonyFucker · 30/05/2014 18:27

A white witches hat is white and pointed and the rest of the costume clues you in to "this is not a KKK hat". I would think that most people would see the huge red cross and think the same thing.

SelfconfessedSpoonyFucker · 30/05/2014 18:30

obviously a KKK costume...

Oh COME ON, Asda!
Topseyt · 30/05/2014 19:20

It is a hooded flag and nothing else. It might make the wearer look like a twat, but each to their own there. I see nothing offensive in it.

What a fuss over nothing.

MrsKoala · 30/05/2014 19:41

Spoony - that's not a cloak with a hood tho is it? it's a fluffy white dress with a hat Confused I'm not saying all white outfits (my wedding dress for instance) could be similar to klan cloaks but this one seems to have made enough people think it's similar - so maybe there's something in it.

owlbegoing · 30/05/2014 20:00

Jeez, people getting their knickers in a twist over nothing!

Trojanhouse · 30/05/2014 20:03

It will be off the shelves by Saturday.

Hiphopopotamus · 30/05/2014 20:07

For people saying 'it's just a flag with a hood', would you be as chilled out if it was a symbol that looked dangerously close to a swastika?

The Ku klux klan may not have been a uk issue, but it is undeniably an offensive one, and surely if a costume, no matter it's intention, reminds people of a ku klux klan hood, it is not unreasonable to find it offensive?
