Asda launches wearable England flag

Asda execs can't see anything wrong with this. At all?

Nothing wrong with it at all. What do want England supporters to wear a German flag, or perhaps a Brazilian one.

ballinacup · 30/05/2014 15:41

Hmm, I guess the KKK was never an English problem. Might explain why so many don't see it.

you're looking bit odd there usual

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 30/05/2014 15:42

usual has grown a beard and is called Brian Grin

WorraLiberty · 30/05/2014 15:44

Yes but what if people do or don't see it?

It still doesn't make it anything other than a wearable flag that makes some people think of the KKK and some people don't.

I think chocolate Ready Brek looks exactly like diarrhea, but I don't think Weetabix Limited should have thought twice about making it.

SolomanDaisy · 30/05/2014 15:44

I thought KKK straight away too. There's no need for it to have a hood, it would actually be a better flag shape without one. It looks almost deliberate.

Deverethemuzzler · 30/05/2014 15:45

I thought KKK as soon as I saw it.

I really don't think it was done deliberately though.

Its an unfortunate design fault if you ask me.

I dunno. This whole flag thing is a bit weird innit.

People who bang on about the flag and being all patriotic and whatever.

It really comes down to football and cheap plastic tat really.

Ludways · 30/05/2014 15:46

If it was a Swedish flag, no one would bat an eye. Pees me off that we can't be patriotic without being accused of something more sinister.

Oh definitely Devere. I don't believe it was intentional just, I dunno, thoughtless? Stupid?

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 30/05/2014 15:47

Solomon are you suggesting Asda deliberately made it look like the KKK cloak? why would they do that?

Don't you think that sounds ridiculous?

Billygoats · 30/05/2014 15:48

Isn't it just like a poncho? I think your overreacting tbh. Some people just look out for racism when it's not there.

TantrumsAndBalloons · 30/05/2014 15:48

its a flag with a hood

we dont have to look for things to be offended or outraged by.

There are plenty of offensive things in the world

This is a flag with a hood.

WorraLiberty · 30/05/2014 15:48

Grin Grin @ 'Almost deliberate'!!

ballinacup · 30/05/2014 15:49

Ludways, our flag is largely white, with some red, which is what makes the design choice somewhat silly.

FWIW the bungalow opposite my house is festooned with England flags and bunting. I think it looks lovely and patriotic, if a little tacky. Our flag isn't offensive, pointy white hoods are.

I think they are usual

I think it i an undercover attempt to recruit KKK members

or else, its a flag. with a hood.

Ludways · 30/05/2014 15:51

Weird, just wanting to show supper like every other country does, don't understand your reasoning there.

Or is it that you just don't like football so you get to dismiss it out of hand? I'm not a big fan of football but I've represented both England and GB in my sport and like to show support for other teams.

WorraLiberty · 30/05/2014 15:52

This is pure flagism this is

If it was a Union flag with a hood, no-one's imagination would be going into overdrive.

Us poor Englanders can't even keep dry without being seen as racist Sad

Grin
mrsbucketxx · 30/05/2014 15:56

is this pointy hood offensive too

Ludways · 30/05/2014 16:01

Ok ok, I'm rethinking. Probably overreacting to this.

I got all on my high horse about flagism, lol. I like to show support for England and get angry when people associate our flag with racism.

Maybe they could've folded the point down and stuck it there. I doubt it was deliberate though.

slithytove · 30/05/2014 16:01

They ought to have carried on the cross over the hood. I bet the other countries look nothing like a kkk robe.

Unfortunately, I do see the resemblance without being told, and that's from both pictures.

slithytove · 30/05/2014 16:02

Mrs bucket, that looks like a white chocolate Hershey's kiss Grin

Yummy!

shouldnthavesaid · 30/05/2014 16:08

FFS what's wrong with buying a bloody football shirt - England ones aren't in short supply? Surely that thing would just make the wearer look a bit of a twat.
