To think the School overreacted in Expelling Pupil and calling Police for a stunt, when a "bollocking would have been enough".

Jacob Dowdle, a year 13 Pupil at Altrincham Grammar school on the last day of term May 16, put a paper plate with whipped cream in to his year heads face.

This was a very "Stupid" thing to do, but no harm was meant or injury caused yet the school called the Police and summary expelled him. The teacher was seeking a prosecution for the stunt, when she was not injured The teacher although upset , should have had the grace to except that it was a poor stunt , ( or like most teachers on the last day taken it on the chin as overexcited students behaviour).

I completely agree. I bet he wouldn't have pied a bloke though.

There is something about being a woman that attracts this kind of abuse from entitled males. It's quite common that when a woman doesn't find it funny she is accused of "not having a sense of humour"

This would have been equally vile if the victim had been male.

I'd put money on it though that if the victim was male and the perpetrator was female she would not be perceived in such a positive light.

LumpySpacedPrincess · 30/05/2014 15:14

This just all smacks of "putting her in her place" Sad

LtEveDallas · 30/05/2014 15:31

Aww he hasn't replied to me. Maybe he's back up Snowdon?

Cock.

BoneyBackJefferson · 30/05/2014 16:28

I have to say that Lawence is coming across as a dick.

LineRunner · 30/05/2014 16:35

I believe that the school is aware of the MN support for the teacher.

MyLatest · 30/05/2014 16:46

I really hope the teacher involved rides this storm out. She needs to know that people support her, as does the HT. Is there any kind of thread or petition to show support (other than this one)?

LumpySpacedPrincess · 30/05/2014 16:56

Oooo what makes you say that LineRunner

D'ya know something or is it just your spidey senses tingling.

IDontDoIroning · 30/05/2014 17:07

I emailed the school as well. I really hope they do not give in to this little twerps attempt to garner sympathy via the media as a result of the consequences of his actions.

IDontDoIroning · 30/05/2014 17:43

If the school/ the teacher is aware of the support on here then I'm glad about that.

LineRunner · 30/05/2014 17:46

I'm a bit embarrassed though about swearing further up the thread Grin

Sallyingforth · 30/05/2014 17:47

if the teacher had been a 6ft 2 PE teacher, he probably wouldn't have done it
Very likely, since he's clearly a bully and most bullies are cowards at heart.
BUT that's not my point. The fact that the victim was a woman doesn't make the offence any worse. A school should be a place of safety where no-one gets hit in the face, man woman or child.

I tweeted him with the Murdoch thing yesterday. He claims that only got a prison sentence because it happened in a court room. The fact that the guy was charged with assault and intent to intimidate or cause fear was, according to Lawrence, not the point.

smokepole · 30/05/2014 18:09

The last time I looked he had 1209 signatures ,his bandwagon has come off the rails. The pleasing thing is he is now getting people on his petition, saying how unacceptable his actions were , perhaps people who like me were misguided in their initial views.

I've just checked Lawrence Jones's twitter feed again. He's like a stuck record saying it wasn't an assault and that the school are wrong to have called it that.

Bettercallsaul1 · 30/05/2014 18:23

I want to go back to a quote Lt EveDallas made a couple of pages back. (just back on the thread now, catching up)

She quotes Lawrence Jones as saying in the perpetrator's defence, that "it was just a silly action" but also "I wonder why he felt the teacher deserved it". Now, he can't argue it both ways - it was either "just a silly action" ie foolish but unthinking and spontaneous (which would allow some degree of mitigation, if the boy had then immediately shown remorse) or it was a deliberate, pre-planned act of revenge on a targeted individual, for which no defence whatsoever is possible. The prearranged filming of the event and subsequent placing on Facebook, together with the complete lack of regret expressed at the time argue very strongly that it was the latter.

The boy's defenders have no logic or consistency in their case and don't merit any respect at all.

Bettercallsaul1 · 30/05/2014 18:25

Basically, they are stupid as well as nasty.

Bluestocking · 30/05/2014 18:27

BrightonBelle, that interview is a gem, isn't it? What a twonk. He says that one of his regrets is "I would also like to have spotted employees that were never going to be aligned to our culture." So I think we can assume that an important part of UKFast's culture is a willingness to bully people, and then to minimise and victim-blame. I would be fascinated to know what it's like to work there.
I wonder what UKFast's clients might think of this turn of events? I was interested to see that they provide services for two educational institutions, Shuttleworth College and Ashton on Mersey School, who might well take a dim view of rewarding people who assault teachers.

EvilTwins · 30/05/2014 18:31

Blue - Lawrence doesn't think it was an assault - apparently anyone who think so is "wrong" and he has looked at "both sides" of the story and discovered the "truth". He's stopped replying to my tweets now - obviously fed up of me Grin

LumpySpacedPrincess · 30/05/2014 18:37

Emailed support plus link to thread to the school.

Is that what you did pottymouth LineRunner Grin

Bettercallsaul1 · 30/05/2014 18:47

I really hope it makes the teacher feel better. I've rarely read such a heartfelt - and unanimous - thread.
