To think the School overreacted in Expelling Pupil and calling Police for a stunt, when a "bollocking would have been enough".

Jacob Dowdle, a year 13 Pupil at Altrincham Grammar school on the last day of term May 16, put a paper plate with whipped cream in to his year heads face.

This was a very "Stupid" thing to do, but no harm was meant or injury caused yet the school called the Police and summary expelled him. The teacher was seeking a prosecution for the stunt, when she was not injured The teacher although upset , should have had the grace to except that it was a poor stunt , ( or like most teachers on the last day taken it on the chin as overexcited students behaviour).

No he's an idiot.

I once nearly got into trouble for assaulting a teacher, I was fighting with a girl who had hit me and he tried to split us up. In the ruckus I broke his nose. I fully believed I was going to get into trouble for that and I deserved it, yet he dropped the charges and instead spoke to me about it. He was a very good man.

This was premeditated, planned and bullying. It's wrong.

Aspiringhuman · 28/05/2014 19:40

Even if she is the most unpopular teacher ever in the history of teaching (no idea what the case is) it can never justify assault. This was assault and I don't see why she should be happy about it.

Why should any human go to work not only expecting to be assaulted but be happy about it. I know many people are assaulted at work, I have been myself but that doesn't make it right.

Assaulting someone is neither big nor clever. It is IMHO a sign of lacking imagination, self control, lack of diplomacy and ability to act legally. Taking risks is about pushing yourself to the limit to achieve, putting your money on the line and being prepared to try new things. Assault doesn't count.

I am not Lawence Jones, nor have I ever met him. I am certainly not the Mother of Jacob Dowdle. I have also said it was unacceptable, wrong what he did.

Jacob Dowdle is benefiting from "Culture Capital" don't be surprised to see him in some " Reality" show in the near future , this is surely wrong and the schools reaction has facilitated this.

I think school have been overly lenient to let him sit his exams. He has shown himself to be a nasty little shit.

Bellezeboobian · 28/05/2014 19:43

If this was a lad in some shitty school in Manchester no-one would have given a toss. Little poss boy creates outcry.

As a teacher some of the reactions on here make my heart sink. I work in a school for boys with behavioural difficulties. When they get angry, they get really angry. I've been hit, punched, kicked and thrown to the floor (I'm only 5'2) by students in a rage as well as having objects thrown at me.

This kind of premeditated bully/assault is completely different and would result in a lengthy fixed term exclusion from my school. And that's for students who are known and diagnosed to have issues with impulse control, empathy and so on.

This spoilt shit has no excuse.

Students are not our colleagues. Pranking is between equals otherwise it is bullying. It should be as unacceptable for a student to prank a teacher as the other way around.

Aspiringhuman · 28/05/2014 19:48

bell personally I don't care which school it is. I'm just as disgusted by anyone being assaulted while just trying to do their job. I don't care how good or bad they are at their job either they still don't deserve to be assaulted.

aspiring I'm very glad you feel like that, I do too. I meant really that there's an outcry to defend this stupid man - and thats what he is - just because the school he goes to.

TalkinPeace · 28/05/2014 19:53

When I was at school we got up to some pretty awful stuff : teachers were regularly humiliated but to actually lay a finger on any one of them was utterly beyond the pale.

The only time throwing stuff at teachers is acceptable is wet sponges at Sports day in a paid for and pre arranged way.

I hope the school (and all other schools) take heart that arrogant little toads like him CAN be made to account for their actions

smokepole in one of your posts you referred to the teacher as unpopular - so "unpopular" people deserve to have custard pies pushed in their faces to what, embarrass them, humiliate them, bring them down a peg or two????

Unbelievable.

Also nice to see Lawrence Jones saying he doesn't approve of assault in the workplace and proves that by rewarding a young man who has assaulted someone in their place of work.

Great message there Lawrence.

If he does get job with you, (without you knowing his qualifications or aptitude) you'd better hope that none of your clients or employees become unpopular with him otherwise he might just decide to do the same to them at one of your work events.

The more I read the worse this gets.

smokepole · 28/05/2014 20:11

Emotion. Michael Gove is Unpopular , would you laugh or Cry if someone put a Custard pie in his face ?

Aspiringhuman · 28/05/2014 20:12

I'd like to ask the supporters a few questions.

Have you ever been assaulted at work?
Did you/would you find it funny?
Did you/would you deserve it?

Aspiringhuman · 28/05/2014 20:16

Can't comment for emotion but I'd be disgusted. You lose the moral high ground by acting like a yob. In fact I think you lose the right to have your views taken seriously.

I have no love for Mr Gove - but if someone hit him in the face whilst holding a pie, I would expect that person to be prosecuted. Don't try and minimise this assault. The boy didn't 'put' a pie in the teacher's face, we've all seen him smack it into her face and run away.

shil0846 · 28/05/2014 20:22

Having just looked on YouTube - YABU.

Posting the video on YouTube, to ensure maximum humiliation for the teacher concerned, elevates this from a childish prank. This individual clearly feels no remorse.

EvilTwins · 28/05/2014 20:23

If someone did that to Gove, they would be arrested - no question.

Sallyingforth · 28/05/2014 20:23

smokepole your original post was not only BU but offensive, because you entirely misrepresented what happened.
It contained numerous factual errors, as well as the appalling grammar.

'paper' plate. Wrong. It was a solid one as the sound it made on the ground demonstrates

'put' in her face. Wrong. It was pushed quite firmly.

'no injury caused' Wrong. The cream went into her eyes and she was very upset.

'summary (sic) expelled'. Wrong. He was only expelled two days later after the video appeared on Youtube.

'like most teachers...' Wrong yet again, as confirmed by the teachers posting here, not one of whom has agreed with your suggestion.

And now you compound your misrepresentation of the case by saying that the teacher was 'unpopular'. For which you have no evidence other than the lout saying they were not friends (which in sirongly suggests that this was done out of a grudge rather than for a 'prank'.)

Perhaps OP you should re-think your position on this unpleasant and unjustified assault.

smokepole · 28/05/2014 20:26

I knew someone was going to comment on my "grammar" .That is the most important thing on this site.
