To think this is disgusting?

We are toilet training 2.5 year old DD. She goes to a childminder, and I send her off every day with several changes of clothes and a travel potty in case they are out and about. CM has been very enthusiastic and supportive of the toilet training.

DD still has the odd accident, which is fine, she has spare clothes and bags to put the wet stuff in. I've just opened up the bag of stuff that the CM put in on Friday, to discover that she has left the actual poo in the pants. I was almost sick on the spot.

AIBU to think this is grim and should I say something to her?

People expect other people to rinse poo out of pants?!!! Like, hold them under a tap? And then what, wring the shitty water out of them?!! That is absolutely rank!

I'd say the most you can expect would be that they'd tip the contents into a toilet.

chocolatemademefat · 18/05/2014 16:51

Bad bad childminder! There - do you feel better now?

Bit clarty knowing your daughter has accidents and not checking her bag WHEN YOU GET HER HOME.

But congratulate yourself - another insult to childminders on mumsnet.

Elenio · 18/05/2014 16:54

Yanbu.

However some people on here are clearly unhinged.

Elenio · 18/05/2014 16:54

Perfect example above my previous postWink

PatrickStarisabadbellend · 18/05/2014 16:59

Am I the only person who finds this funny?

NotInGuatemalaNowDrRopata · 18/05/2014 17:12

Yuck, you had no reason to check the bag, so I don't believe you're a bad mother! I wouldn't have checked it either. She absolutely should have said something to you, and been upfront from the start of potty training how she would deal with poo.

I'm also very surprised at the number of people who think it's ok to buy packets and packets of underwear with the intention of throwing it away. How utterly wasteful.

AWombWithoutARoof · 18/05/2014 17:13

I definitely wouldn't routinely throw underwear away, I meant that all you can expect from someone looking after your child is that either they tip out the contents, or throw the pants away. Definitely not on to expect rinsing.

gamerchick · 18/05/2014 17:18

How would you rinse it anyway? Flush the chain and use that water, then just stick it in a bag dripping?

adsy · 18/05/2014 17:19

Im a cm. Pooey stuff gets triple bagged and handed over to parents at pick up.not my remit to rinse poo off clothes.
Certainly wouldnt hsppen at any cm or nursey I know of.
Do people really expect rinsing of poo? Where? In my bathroom sink? In my kitchen sink? No no no! What do I do with the 3 two year olds whikst iM rinsing poo?

gamerchick · 18/05/2014 17:21

Well I dunno about anybody else but I didn't really get that many pooey accidents. Anybody who gets packets and packets worth of shitty accidents probably should wait a while before training Wink

LilacRoses · 18/05/2014 17:27

I deal with toilet accidents regularly in my teaching job. I don't think I've ever washed or rinsed out a child's underwear in nearly 20 years of teaching. Not because I am trying to be unkind, I don't have time! I do however, let the parent know that their child has had an accident. I guess it is a little strange that the CM didn't tell you. I'm imagining she just forgot.

MargotLovedTom · 18/05/2014 17:36

Exactly gamerchick! The very occaisonal accident we did have resulted in the knickers getting thrown out if there was poo smeared all over them.

I know people are slaving in sweat shops and the planet is going to rack and ruin but I really couldn't work myself up enough to salvage a 20p pair of knickers.

MargotLovedTom · 18/05/2014 17:37

occasional

GreenEyedGoblin · 18/05/2014 17:39

Well I certainly wouldn't expect an actual poo log left in the pants as that can be put down the toilet. But I wouldn't expect them rinsed either.

WilsonFrickett · 18/05/2014 17:42

People on here can be a bit weird at times. OP didn't know there were soiled clothes so she didn't check the bag. I note no-one is blaming OP's partner, who presumably also has a nose. Washing shitty knickers is clearly women's work, eh?

OP I had exactly the same thing happen to me when DS was in nursery. Except they put the poo-y knickers into his lunch box, which - quelle horreur - I didn't check till 24 hours later till I needed it again. Boak.

camsie · 18/05/2014 18:03

YABU

uptheauntie · 18/05/2014 18:10

My DDs nursery have always rinsed out any clothes that are dirty, be that with food, paint, shit or piss. I never ask how they do it, but it does mean they smell less repugnant when you take the out the bag to wash them. So those getting their knickers in knot over the outrageous suggestion that a nursery or cm rinse out soiled clothes can calm down.

CSIJanner · 18/05/2014 18:21

YABU to expect the CM to clean the pants.

YANBU to expect the CM to tell you that there was an accident. I use a nursery but I'm told if there's been a need for a clothes change. All it takes is "x had an accident - the clothes are in his bag". No biggie to expect a heads up.

adsy · 18/05/2014 19:04

I really don't see the problem. CM just forgot to mention there were shitty pants.
You checked, found shitty pants and I presume dealt with them?
What are you thinking would be reasonable to say to CM? "please get a better memory and don't be distracted at pick up time"?

Lilaclily · 18/05/2014 19:22

she might have just got really hectic towards the end of the day & forgot to mention but I'd be annoyed too op

Now dirty pants put in a lunch box is disgusting and I would have strong words with whoever did it!

windchime · 18/05/2014 19:29

I think you are asking too much of your CM and you need to get on top of your laundry.

scarletforya · 18/05/2014 20:01

Yanbu!

Not at all. I just don't understand why she didn't bin them?

Who on Earth keeps shitty pants? The woman sounds like an absolute fruitcake. Bizarre.
