The new inissia one, I can't see many reviews online so i'm unsure how good it is. I wouldn't say I'm a snob but instant just isn't cutting it anymore!
Plus I'm sick of paying €5+ for starbucks I know, I know every few days
I was going to buy myself a new handbag this month but I'd rather have the coffee machine!
Its €99 but with €40 cash back that will have to be sent off for and could take 6-8 weeks to come through. The handbag I wanted was €95.

Thoughts?

Rawcoconutmacaroon that canadiano looks v interesting! (here www.designboom.com/design/canadiano-wooden-coffee-maker-brews-a-cup-at-a-timecanadiano-crafted-coffee-personalized/)
Definitely more beautiful than aeropress but does it taste like filter coffee?

DH has just told me about a completely different coffee maker not mentioned so far - the 'handpresso' www.handpresso.com
Simply pump with air to designated pressure! Ha ha. Possibly, without wishing to generalise, it might appeal more to males than females? More than slightly phallic...

Psst.. instant coffee isn't real coffee... Wink

Honestly, I'd just get a regular machine and a bean grinder so that it still tastes fresh. When you get down to it, you really just need hot water and fresh coffee grinds, the rest is just brand marketing.

But, everyone deserves little luxuries, so if you want the expensive one that makes a cute single cup each time, go for it.

(and nestle also has a problem with child slavery in the cocoa bean farms, but then, almost all chocolate companies do even "fair trade" ones Sad)

I love my nespresso machine and have tried the alternative cheaper capsules and they just aren't the same, they taste a bit weak or lacking in flavour in comparison to the nespresso ones, for a few pence different per capsule I'd rather have a coffee I really enjoy.
It is a shame that nestle own nespresso bit unfortunately even if we boycott nestle and nespresso as their brands it won't make much difference. Nestlé also own just under 50% of L'Oreal so hundreds of everyday products we use are being produced to line their pockets. L'Oreal Paris, Maybeline, Lancôme, Redken, matrix, hundreds of perfumes, kerastase, Vichy, essie.....loads more and the most unbelievable of all is the body shop which was founded on the basis of being against animal testing.....loreal are extremely shady about their animal testing policy and in fact listed as one of the worlds biggest brands who still test on animals!

Nespresso has no milk pods. So no UHT milk taste.

Not all stove top or cafetiere coffee is nice either. Like with everything - depends which one you buy and how you make it. And of course, it is all personal taste anyway.

We have some in the office on a trial basis. The capsules are nespresso and they are horrible. Not remotely as nice as filter, plunger or any other method I can think of for making real coffee.

We have a cafe in the office which sells Costa type coffee and kitchens on each floor. I keep a tin of ground coffee in the kitchen and make my own with one of these (Bodum Travel Press)

The Nestlé thing isn't just about baby milk anymore. They are also buying up local water supplies/sources and aggressively marketing bottled water in developing countries, often by selling them water which, until Nestlé bought the source of it, the people had free access to.

One of their CEOs has stated that water is not a human right, and that making people pay for their own water to be sold to them in plastic bottles is completely ethical.

So, aggressive marketing of formula milk, including giving women free samples at the crucial cluster feeding time, buying up water supplies from developing country's governments and then selling it back to citizens in plastic bottles, creating bottled water markets in areas where there previously was none.

Yup, terribly middle class angsty to give a shit about other people!

We have a Krups coffee machine, it was a present years ago. It makes the best coffee I've had ever.
