soft play area toilet accident

Just a quick one. My friend took my (usually toilet trained) 2 year old daughter to one of the local soft play areas and my daughter had a toilet accident in the ball pit. The owners have now sent me a cleaning bill. AIBU to not pay it considering I wasn't there and responsibility for my dd lay with my friend, (although dont think she is liable neither, surely this is hazard of running a soft play area and should be calculated into running costs?). Plus atm I am living hand to mouth so don't have the money to pay anyway.

How long would you keep a potty trained child in pull ups for? Til they're 3, 4, 5?

Just askd DH what he would do.
He laughed and said it was the hazard of the business. It is very annoying and a bit of a bugger to clean but he would not expect you to pay.
He doesn't think the softplay can force you to pay or take any action against you.
Don't pay.

Very obviously in the minority, but I would pay. I just don't expect a soft play centre, where you're paying a few quid to get in, to clean up kids poo/wee. It's nowhere near the same as a nursery.

My local soft play has signs saying unless children are totally toilet trained they should be in a nappy/pull up. Accidents do happen, I agree, but then I don't expect someone else to clean up the mess.

It hasn't ever really dawned on me that kids might do this. Surely an activity like this requires leggings or trousers anyway which would contain some of it? Or maybe I'm being unreasonable!

I don't think potty training is the issue here, the child has supposedly been dry for 6 months so is potty trained! My mum always reminds me how I pooed myself age 6 at a birthday party where there was a magician because I didn't want to miss it, I think this is what probably happened here, too much excitement.
I wouldn't pay, I worked in a child friendly restaurant when I was 16 and as it was expected to happen a lot and I was was a junior member of staff it was actually written in my contract I wasn't aloud to clean up bodily fluids. I would have done it happily but the fact they felt they needed to add it in as they felt I was too young to do it shows how they expected other members of staff to do it. And it did happen alot, mainly sick though, it was gross, we had booths so it got everywhere, but the other staff just got on with it!
I wouldn't pay but maybe I am being unreasonable?

I wouldn't pay. They can pay for it out of the extortionate fees they usually charge for entry and food. It's a try on and personally I'd just ignore the letter.
