To think that drinking 111 units of alcohol in 30 hours...

Or 20 units (maybe less) combined with at least two ecstasy tablets, amphetamine, cocaine, ketamine, mephadrone or a combination of those drugs (consumed over the same period of time) - is not normal and is a pretty fucking strong indicator that you have a serious problem?

Even if "it only happens a couple of times a month" and "all my friends are the same"?

I would really like everyone's views on this on so i can reassure myself I haven't absolutely lost my grip on reality!

Too much. Way, way too much.
I am a heavy drinker and my brother is an alcoholic at his worst drinking 27 units a day. He nearly died. He now lives with the Salvation Army, having lost everything.
He is rebuilding his life. He is lucky. He lived. Whoever you refer to in your post is going to kill themselves without help.

CortanaFights · 14/05/2014 20:35

I think if it was normal we'd fail to function as a society.
That is one hell of a bender. I'm kinda impressed.

ICanSeeTheSun · 14/05/2014 20:35

Wouldn't someone be dead after 111 units of alchol.

Canus · 14/05/2014 20:36

I'd have thought 111 units of alcohol over two days would leave most people unconscious Shock.

20 units combined with drugs in common enough though, amongst those still young enough to fnd it fun.

LaurieFairyCake · 14/05/2014 20:36

Perfectly normal for someone with a death wish.

Icelollycraving · 14/05/2014 20:36

Ok. 20 units over 30 hours or 111? 20 easyish,111 not so much. Drugs have never been my bag. Is this your dp or your dc?

LucyBabs · 14/05/2014 20:38

111 units or 20 units? I'm confused by the title and then your op.

I have been on some crazy benders but no I would have died long ago from that combo.

Are you sure whoever this is, is actually taking this amount in one night or over a weekend?

AElfgifu · 14/05/2014 20:38

Agree with LaurieFairyCake. Completely normal after writing a suicide note.

How is all this being paid for, by the way?

YouAreCompletelyRight · 14/05/2014 20:38

How many units in a bottle of wine?

Mrsmorton · 14/05/2014 20:39

Between 9 and 14

YouAreCompletelyRight · 14/05/2014 20:42

How many in a litre of gin? One night 15 years ago a friend and I drank 2 litres of gin between us, on empty stomachs. Not good but it was a crisis, she'd found out her man had been unfaithful and I helped her drown her sorrows.

YouAreCompletelyRight · 14/05/2014 20:43

No 111 is obscene, I'd be dead.

purplemurple1 · 14/05/2014 20:45

40

MrsMaturin · 14/05/2014 20:45

I read it as 111 units (no drugs) OR 20 units PLUS drugs.

Either way, no not normal and not sustainable. The person you are talking about is on a one way ticket to the mortuary atm. It's not your child is it?

Raskova · 14/05/2014 20:46

Would methadone/ket be mixed with the other drugs? Surely that's stupid to take uppers and downers at same time?

Raskova · 14/05/2014 20:46

Obv it's all stupid but you know what I mean...

MrsMaturin · 14/05/2014 20:47

I think the drugs were taken over 30 hours in which case you could see where the up and the down came in.....

TartWithACart · 14/05/2014 20:48

ICanSee Definitely not dead, just got off the phone with him.

LucyBabs 111 on its own (if he does not take anything) or 20 with drugs, might even be less than 20 because he has said that once he takes something he loses the desire to drink.

AElfgifu He has a full time job with a good wage.

YouAre About 10.

Christ alive.....

ICanSeeTheSun · 14/05/2014 20:51

111 units would be just under 4 litres of vodka.

dementedma · 14/05/2014 20:54

He will kill himself soon, either intentionally or unintentionally. Sorry.

GiniCooper · 14/05/2014 20:54

A litre of gin is about 35 units.

How is the 111 calculated? It seems weirdly specific. One would expect consumption on that scale to be pretty chaotic & vague about the details.

Bowlersarm · 14/05/2014 21:04

I'm sceptical. How is it possible to drink 111 units in such a short space of time. That's around 12 bottles of wine. He must be exaggerating, mustn't he?
