To want DD (6) to have buckle up shoes for school??

Clearly I am because I have looked every where she has size12h feet and clarkes had one pair which are the same she has had for the last 3 years, does anyone know where I can get buckle up school shoes for a heavy footed monkey?

Velcro is much easier to children to get on and off at school surely?

can she do up her own buckles? It may take her longer to change shoes for PE. At dd/ds's school they change shoes multiple times a day (they wear indoor shoes and put outdoor shoes on for playtime/lunchtime/hometime) so buckles/laces slow everything down

What's wrong with the style she's been wearing for the last three years if they're suitable and they're made in her size?

Kickers have some buckle styles they're certainly tough, but I don't know what they're like for width.

I prefer buckles for mine... The velcro ends up with half the carpet stuck to it.

Just as hard to find boys lace up shoes in smaller sizes. My boychild has small feet. In year six I struggled to get him shoes without velcro/dinosaurs/toys in the heel as his feet were too small.

Slip on is definitely not suitable.

Secure fastening is needed (both or support and to withstand active play) - bar with buckle is firmer than with Velcro, but both are fine. As is lace up.

Kickers shoes last for ages also sketchers shoes are brilliant my dd had them for the first 3 years of high school she has wide feet and low arches, they are velcro though but sturdy

She would kick off slip on shoes and knock out a teacher or a window... She hates the feel of Velcro always has and completely freaks out when touching it...

Sounds like the OP has good reasons to want buckles but my childhood memories of wanting the nice shoes and being forced to were StartRight sensible buckled up shoes are very strong, so I'm shuddering slightly! Plus my mum didn't believe me when I said they weren't comfortable so I have a bunion as a result.

We had the opposite issue with ds as he's never been able to handle bows and once he grew out of the velcrod range he had pretty much permanently knotted laces, and tatty shoes with a very short life expectancy. Then I found these neat little clips that you can secure to the laces and clip them together instead of tying bows. Very clever.

Try barefoot shoes maybe? They have a wide toe box to allow feet to move and there are several buckle styles - though I'm buying for a toddler so it may be different. Try happylittlesoles.
Most barefoot shoes are more suitable for a medium to wide foot.

Thankyou will look it's not that I want buckle it's that she can't cope with Velcro, I don't want the same pair again as they are not very durable this is the third pair of the same size since Xmas. It's really frustrating

A start rite G might be wide enough. The Clarks and Start Rite sizing isn't completely identical. I'd print out some of their measuring charts and see.

My DD has the same size feet as yours. We got her some very pretty patent buckle shoes from start rite.

Have you get the receipt for the clarks shoes? Without the receipt, and just our word we'd bought the shoes 12 weeks ago (previous school hols), the fact they they were worn out, and that DS1 was still the same size, we got a half price pair.

I will have another look at start rite tonight, I don't have the receipt they replaced the first pair the second pair I they said she was 'heavy footed' I didn't want the third but there was no alternative. I have ordered the kickers and will check out start rite in a min

Have a look at petasil a European make, they do buckle up shoes, my dd has had some lovely ones, very hardwearing.

I can get a full year out of start rite Velcro ones with a child who does nothing but play football with the boys every break time so you should be ok with them.

Have you tried start rite in the shop? They might be able to recommend a model that's particularly generous in the width or the widths might be slightly different to the clarks widths, as the lengths are, or go up half a size or something. I think it needs to be done with a fitter though.
