Had to learn to dress himself? This just gets more bizarre.

Did he buy it for cash, is it brand new Or is it older and/or on finance?

Surely those are the questions to answer to "posh possessions".

If you don't actually own it (ie it's on finance) then surely it doesn't really qualify as "posh" no matter what the badge.........

The thing with the z4 is its supposed to be a "fun" car but it just isn't...

The bigger BMWs have a place as company cars, I actually quite like th x1, I remain unimpressed by anything else they do.

There are, I believe, more BMW 3 series on the roads of Britain than there are ford mondeos.

Ooh! I'm getting really excited now. BMWs and drug dealers IN THE 90s!!!

By way of background, a former roommate had a VW she'd bought at a police auction and, months later, whilst doing a really thorough clean, found some [heroin?] stashed down an air vent. Not sure how much (and she turned it in to the police, so no judgey-pants!), but it could have probably netted her a few bills.

I've got a 97 BMW convertible. I'm going to clean the car ree-hee-heeally well this weekend. DC's gotta go to Uni.

OP, does your neighbour have pampas grass? Wink

This brings back memories of an ex of mine back in the 90's. He was Jamaican, with dreadlocks, lived in Brixton and drove a BMW. The amount of times he got stopped by the police was ludicrous.

I'm not saying they thought he was a drug dealer but Hmm

We often wondered if he'd get stopped as often if he drove a Ford Fiesta?

All the very posh people I know, and there are a lot where I live, drive old battered mercs and Landrovers. And they don't seem to care about cars one jot. They'd rather spend their money on other things.

We do live in the country though so we don't get this 'keeping up with the Jones' stuff.

But this is it Excuse, the properly posh, and I have known more than one Lady, just don't spend their money on stuff like cars. In fact a long of them aren't really all that rich. It's the nouveau riche who spend all their money on cars and houses. The properly posh inherit their houses and furniture.

Pipbin or spend borrowed money on them...... In which case they dont really own them at all......

I have no idea what cars drug dealers drive around here.

OP, I made the weird thread comment but I am a car wanker by MN standards so I can't really talk.

It is like, midlife crisis car.

My friend bought her dh a Porsche Carerra for his 40th. She even got a mahoosive bow tie for it. It looked ridiculous on their drive, alongside their rather common BMW X5.

Around here Volvo XC90, Porsche Cayenne, Audi Q7 or whatever and Lexus are posh cars.

We drive a Peugeot!

Was busy! DH bought it for cash and it's not old but not brand new and it's got a personal number plate. Just not his initials like we give a monkeys £7.5K

I don't really care what I or he drives so long as it's not an old banger, and that's only because they break down often. Been there and done it!

Maybe DH is a drug dealer and that's why he can afford a car to fund his mid life crisis, which he most definitely is having!

Grin

I have a toyota aygo. £20 a year road tax. A sensible car Smile

DH keeps encouraging me to drive the BMWs.

Don't want to drive the estate, it's a tank
Don't want to drive the Z4. It's a posers car!

DH also bought a WHITE CAP AND WRAP AROUND SUNGLASSES!! He was taking the p* honestly! I don't think he has put it on outside the house! Grin.

OP i think you're probably safe enough it's not like your DH went out and brought a brand spanking M6 convertible for cash!

It's only the same amount youd pay for a 4 year old honda civic, mazda6 or for focus so i doubt your neighbour would be that bothered by it......
