Just had an op and not allowed to use tampax for a while so for the first time ever having to use pads. The most uncomfortable thing ever if you actually want to move around and do outdoorsy stuff. Who actually chooses to use these?! Any tips on brands and what doesn't irritate your lady gardens gladly received. I don't wish to have to go totally bald down there to reduce irritation as re growth will be even more painful!

^Just been posting about these //www.beppyusa.com/product.htm^]

I've used them and they're good, very comfy. Better than mooncup

I never wear tampons, my periods are very heavy so I have to wear always night Sad, hate them now they are scented, the smell makes me feel sick! sometimes I can find in scented in poundland. I can't find any others as big but comfortable.

Have any regular horse riders or cyclists etc tried the Mooncup? Would be interested to hear experiences!

Haven't read all thread so apologies if I'm repeating but I have a horse and I cycle and the mooncup is absolutely the best thing that's ever happened in history ever ever!
For obvious reasons I avoided riding with a pad and tampons weren't much better because it didn't matter what I did with the string it would eventually get in an awkward place and cause agony and you can't exactly fish it out! The mooncup is so brilliant, you can't feel it at all, there is nothing to make you sore and it has never leaked, not even when I've had lunge lessons with no stirrups. Honestly, can't praise it enough.

I loved my mooncup. Until I had DCs and suffered a mild prolapse. Can't even use tampons now :(

It's towels for me now and NEVER the ghastly scented ones. You reading, Always?

AAh thanks Belleze I'm ok - I think. Just very very tired.

Always are definitely scented though. Was told by docs, if there is an odour then there could be an infection. All I could smell was the Always Ultra!!!!!

I am probably against the grain here but I don't like using tampons and I am actually OK with sanitary pads (with wings). I find them less interfering.

I use washables now and really like them, occasional lillet for swimming or work. A few of those tiny body form liners for spotting.

Right now all my towels are clean, washed and in my underwear drawer - it feels comforting and as if I can't be caught out.

I feel a bit outnumbered here, I like towels much better than tampons! I also prefer the thicker towels because I feel somehow more secure knowing I can actually tell it's there - it's not like I wear skin-tight jeans or anything - haven't got the figure for them!

I will wear a tampon for a couple of hours occasionally to be able to swim with friends, but if I was planning to swim on my own I just wouldn't go. I never feel totally convinced a tampon won't leak.

Well if there was no mooncup I would rather use pads than tampons as long as they are the right sort of pads (not plastic or scented or wings) as I hate tampons and pads can be ok (personally I find the old fashioned style Kotex acceptable, a bit thick but nice and soft). Unfortunately if you want to do certain sports then tampons are sometimes more practical so I would still have to use them occasionally hopefully that will never happen!.

WTF do you care what sanitary wear other people use???

Reasons I use a cup:

  1. it's comfortable

  1. I can't feel it.

  1. it keeps up with my flow

  1. when I'm particularly heavy I can tell my gynecologist how heavy (I'm a thrombophiliac so my gp won't treat period problems)

  1. I'm aware of my carbon footprint.

  1. I've not paid for sanitary wear in years.

  1. I like it.

  1. there's less risk of infection.

  1. I'm more aware of my cycle

10. less pain and shorter periods usually

11. I can wear the clothes I want to wear

12. I like seeing how grossed out people get about it Grin

13. I still feel like a woman.

14. because they're legal to use

15. I want to.

16. because I'm a big girl who can make my own decisions

17. because I don't need a wad of cotton wool to make me feel like a woman

18. it's cleaner

19. it takes up less space in my coffin like toilet.

20. because my name is confuddled not Paula

I love the idea that a 24 year old, practically a child, thinks we've been doing it wrong longer than she's been alive and need her to tell us how to do it right. she even knows what pads and pants we've all tried! not to mention there must be something wrong with us preferring a different method to her!
