to think my colleague was thoughtless and ruined my lunch?

Yesterday the canteen at work was closed so two work colleagues volunteered to drive and pick up lunch (we work in an area where it would take 15 minutes to walk to the nearest cafe and only have half an hour lunch.)

It was decided they would go to KFC and McDonalds. I had spent an hour previously complaining that I had got food poisoning last time I went to KFC. So I ordered from McDonalds and said to my colleague, please just get me the American burger of the week.

My colleague returned back with a Louisiana burger which is a chicken burger! When I said I had been complaining about getting food poisoning from KFC that it was common sense that I wouldn't want a chicken burger.

Their excuse was - they had other peoples lunches to get, I hadn't been specific and that they hadn't really listened when I complained about my food poisoning.

what are your views on Hen Cottage and Tennesee Chicken and Ribs?

LiberalLibertine · 09/05/2014 12:55

Did....you....eat...the....burger??

TheDoctrineOfSnatch · 09/05/2014 12:55

"Oh pants, I should have said, if the burger of the week is chicken, I'm not keen on chicken burgers. Anyone fancy a swap?"

Fixed that for you too.

TiggyD · 09/05/2014 12:56

YABU

OnlyLovers · 09/05/2014 12:57

it's common sense that if I was no longer could eat KFC because of food poisoning then you wouldn't go out and buy chicken

No, it's common sense that you wouldn't go out and buy KFC. Which they didn't.

5Foot5 · 09/05/2014 13:00

I think your other colleague agreed with you just to calm you down and keep the peace. If he/she had already listened to your one hour account of food poisining from KFC then he/she would presumably do or say anything to placate you and avoid another rant!

Needless to say YABVVU

Will you never eat chicken again ever, ever in any form? How rational is that?

KatieKaye · 09/05/2014 13:00

You sound like really hard work. After 1 hour boring everyone with your food poisoning, how long did you moan on about lunch for!
McDonalds is not KFC so YABU. Perhaps you need to think more carefully before you speak and not expect people yo be mind readers. They had probably switched off during your epic tale of food poisoning anyway or weren't that interested. You aren't the centre of the whole universe.

BravePotato · 09/05/2014 13:01

yabu and boring

Everythingwillbeok · 09/05/2014 13:02

Ill have a quarter pounder meal Fun

But no cheese

Or gherkin

Extra sachets of salt

1 sweet and sour

1BBQ

Full fat coke

Should I get my own?

adsy · 09/05/2014 13:06

So chicken in all forms is off your menu forever. No matter where it's from?
What an odd person you are

Summerbreezing · 09/05/2014 13:13

I would have thrown the burger at you and told you to get your own next time. You sound really pettish and annoying.

RabbitFromAHat · 09/05/2014 13:18

No, it's common sense that you wouldn't go out and buy KFC. Which they didn't.

Precisely this, I'm afraid! YABU.

diddl · 09/05/2014 13:19

"it's common sense that if I was no longer could eat KFC because of food poisoning then you wouldn't go out and buy chicken"

No, it's common sense not to buy KFC!
You should have told them to get a burger or specified no chicken.

Do you think that top of their thoughts was whether or not you would be wanting chicken from somewhere other than KFC when they were trying to help colleagues by getting lunch?

WandaDoff · 09/05/2014 13:20

So did you eat the chicken burger or not?

Because if its going spare I'll have it, all this talk of KFC & McDs is killing me.

diddl · 09/05/2014 13:21

And surely the food poisoning means that you don't want to eat KFC atm/ever, not that you can't ever eat chicken again?

Bunbaker · 09/05/2014 13:25

it's common sense that if I was no longer could eat KFC because of food poisoning then you wouldn't go out and buy chicken

No it isn't. People aren't telepathic you know. It wouldn't have occurred to me not to buy any chicken at all. I just wouldn't have bought from KFC.

If you want/don't want something in particular you should be more specific.

Oh god - this is going to be one of THOSE AIBUs - where the OP is clearly being exceedingly unreasonable but ignores everyone's explanations of why she is being unreasonable - and maintains, to the death, that she IS being reasonable.

They haven't maintained much at all yet, which sort of spoils all the fun.

Atbeckandcall · 09/05/2014 13:31

OP, you are the only that can't see it!!!

If someone told me they went to KFC and they thought that they had contracted a v&d bug from eating at their establishment, I would think them completely rational and normal to not fancy anything to eat from there.

I would automatically assume that chicken was off the menu from everywhere else.

AND, you asked for something that is changeable weekly from the Golden Arches, the word "burger" doesn't necessarily mean just beef. You can get veggie ones, bean burgers, fish burgers, mushroom burgers, lamb burgers and CHICKEN burger.

Now, any more stroppy tantrum throwing from you and you'll have your backside suitably placed on the naughty step.

Acknowledge you're in the wrong and this thread can (but probably won't stop) Wink

Lemongrab · 09/05/2014 13:33

Are you for real?

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 09/05/2014 13:35

You're right, firesidechat - I can just feel her believing she's utterly reasonable from here!!

ASmidgeofMidge · 09/05/2014 13:37

If only I'd known that I was entitled to throw a massive strop every time friends or colleagues suggested having pizza after that time I got food poisoning at an Italian restaurant 10 years ago. I'm missed out on lots and lots of lovely drama-queening. On the other hand, I've eaten quite a lot of perfectly health pizzas.
