to think my colleague was thoughtless and ruined my lunch?

Yesterday the canteen at work was closed so two work colleagues volunteered to drive and pick up lunch (we work in an area where it would take 15 minutes to walk to the nearest cafe and only have half an hour lunch.)

It was decided they would go to KFC and McDonalds. I had spent an hour previously complaining that I had got food poisoning last time I went to KFC. So I ordered from McDonalds and said to my colleague, please just get me the American burger of the week.

My colleague returned back with a Louisiana burger which is a chicken burger! When I said I had been complaining about getting food poisoning from KFC that it was common sense that I wouldn't want a chicken burger.

Their excuse was - they had other peoples lunches to get, I hadn't been specific and that they hadn't really listened when I complained about my food poisoning.

Actually two people I love dearly do have mental illnesses. It's not a derogatory term towards anyone with MHIs Confused

Nennypops · 09/05/2014 17:53

Sorry, meant to ask how your colleagues reacted, not how you reacted.

DorisAllTheDay · 09/05/2014 17:55

AtYourCervix, have your colleagues not offered to go out on the KFC/MaccyD's run? Poor you, that's dreadful of them. They ABVU and they don't deserve you as a colleague.

sharonthewaspandthewineywall · 09/05/2014 17:55

I have mental illness myself. Please don't think you speak on my behalf of what is acceptable or not

Well, you should be!

I'm not speaking on your behalf. Many people take offence to things many others wouldn't. It wasn't used as derogatory towards MHIs by myself therefore I am saying it's not when it comes from me.

douchbag · 09/05/2014 17:58

Ybu end of stop being precious....

hotfuzzra · 09/05/2014 18:01

I have never, ever, read through twelve pages of such a wonky thread as this.
The reason I did? To see if you ate the frickin burger livelife
Pleeeaaassseee??
If I caution you will you tell me?! PM me, it'll be data protection so I can't tell anyone....! ;-)

I'm literally on the edge of my seat.

kali110 · 09/05/2014 18:02

I have a mental illness and take no offence to the term fruitloop, think its funny.

sharonthewaspandthewineywall · 09/05/2014 18:02

I didn't mean you fairy I meant the OP

livelifememories · 09/05/2014 18:03

So what if I was a "fruitloop" and therefore loopy/crazy? Is it ok to use that as a term to insult someone?

Like I said it's not a term I would use, and I'm allowed to voice my opinion that I feel it's dismissive.

"I just don't like the term fruitloop, I think it's a dismissive term to use.
It's a term you wouldn't be using if someone you loved had a mental illness."

really, OP? Once again, I'm afraid YABU and also more than a little presumptuous. Many people (note: not all people) use the term in the same way as "batty" - in other words, mildly eccentric.

It's probably best not to tell other people off for their use of language after your epic fail on the language re BurgerGate, where you were as clear as mud re your dietary choices.

BTW- did you really go on about your food poisoning for an hour? If so, why?

livelifememories · 09/05/2014 18:06

And for the record I'm not embarrassed in the slightest

Well, you should be!

Why? Because you said I should?

I never feel embarrassed, it makes life a hell of a lot easier.

It's so hard working with people whose psychic abilities aren't up to scratch Sad

LiberalLibertine · 09/05/2014 18:08

Using my superior Colombo esque detective skills......she can't have eaten the burger, one of her responses was when asked if she was never ever going to eat chicken again, op said..... No, chicken flavoured projectile vom has put me off.......THEREFORE!! Op must have thrown the offending burger at the incompetent arse of a colleague.

It's the only explanation.

sharonthewaspandthewineywall · 09/05/2014 18:09

Then she is a very silly sausage

FairyWand · 09/05/2014 18:10

Ah ok Sharon I was beginning to wonder if it was something people deemed as derogatory because to me it's not meant that way at all

Cornettoninja · 09/05/2014 18:11

Ah but Liberal - this is the internet, you have to embellish arguments to win, the truth doesn't matter.

I think she ate it.

KatieKaye · 09/05/2014 18:11

liberal - if I was said colleague, I'd have tried to catch it in my mouth!
Am officially starving right now. And probably a bit loopy too. Maybe even fruitloopy, only it's the end of the week and the cupboards are bare, along with the fruitbowl.
Life is very hard...

LiberalLibertine · 09/05/2014 18:12

Op, honestly, why won't you answer any of the reasonable questions being asked?

livelifememories · 09/05/2014 18:12

did you really go on about your food poisoning for an hour? If so, why?

No lolz I lied about that part.

I actually spoke about it for 57 minutes and 43 seconds.

The first 15 was about how I got to KFC and then deciding on what to eat.

The next 11 minutes was spent on how first I ate 10 fries, had a sip of my drink and then I ate 3 pieces of popcorn chicken, then ate 8 more fries.

I then spent 5 minutes and 3 seconds explaining how I felt fine.

And then it was a full 26 minutes and 40 seconds on how many times I threw up, how I broke into a cold sweat, how I screamed in pain, what exactly the sick looked like.

They were all enthralled and begged me to tell it again.

Did you eat the burger??????????? ??

ArmyDad · 09/05/2014 18:13

OP to self: Fuck I've lost this one. Oh someone has used a term that could, if I try really hard, consider offensive. Back in the game.
