To put my baby in room on her own at 6 months and 1 day old?

To be honest it's not even for whole nights sleep as we are in a 1 bed flat so cot is in our room but we have been following guidelines that all sleeps be in same room/place as me until 6 months old.
I'm not sure what will change from 5 months and 30 days old to 6 months and 1 day but will it be ok to have her naps and first part of night sleep in t

Yes, that's fine. Very jealous, love a lo of that age. My yo youngest is 4.

Goodness yes! Mine went onto their own rooms at 9 weeks (blatant flaunting of guidelines).

Posted to soon. Ment to add, they are nice at that age for cuddles. My youngest looks in disgust if I ask for a cuddle.

Both my children started sleeping through the night at 6 months and I have no doubt at all that this was because they were in a quiet room on their own and weren't woken by snoring random noises we all make in the night. Also, they might have woken and shuffled around a bit but that wouldn't instantly wake ME and put me on full-on alert insomniac mode.

It all got better when they had their own rooms, tbh.

Nothing changes. It is just a convenient cut off point.
She will be just fine in her own room.
Mine had naps and evening sleep in own room from maybe 10/12 weeks.
She will get better quality sleep and you can stop tiptoeing round all the time!

YANBU, mine went in at 3 months, when she'd outgrown her moses basket! Couldn't have fitted a cot in our room.

DD went into her own room at six months when we moved to a bigger house. DS went into his own room at eight weeks because he sounded like a cageful of hamsters when he slept and neither me nor DP were getting any sleep.

Against the guidelines - totally. Did we all get more sleep - definately. Which made for a much more relaxed household overall.

Were the guidelines different in 1985 when DS was born? He slept in his own room from Day One.

And slept through the night from Week Six which made my BILs and their DWs very, very envious a few years later. We never had a peek out of him at night after that, in fact we used to wake him to go to the loo once he was out of nappies. Getting him up in the morning sometime down the road, now that was another issue, but I guess we have all been there except those who are going to be there soon!

Mine's been in her own room since she came home from the hospital. That way one of us can sleep while the other feeds the baby at night. Otherwise we'd both be sleep deprived and that just doesn't work for being the best parents in our household. But, her room is right next to ours, so we hear every sniffle and grunt anyway.

Moved dd2 last weekend at five months. I think its just a convenient milestone for them to choose, but for us she was getting too big for her crib.

We had DS in our room till 6 months but for a couple of weeks before that he was waking at 5 and having a feed and then we put him in his own room for about 5 minutes an hour or two while we argued about whose turn it was to get up.

Before that we used ear plugs, which some people seemed to think was evil, as he was also a really noisy sleeper.

Andrewofogg same here. Son born 1990 and we were told own room asap. He had one night in our room then in his own with a monitor.

I'm the opposite end from most then! Mine were in with me until about 8/9/10 months. Largely because they were still bfed overnight and I couldn't be arsed getting out of bed to do it! Anything for a lazy life.
Nothing changes from 5 months and 30 days to 6 months old of course, it's just a guideline much like the weaning one. Keep them in as long as is right for you.

Our dd went into her own room when she was 4 months, she sleeps really well and always has done. She likes her bed :)

We'll be moving ds around then because dh's snoring is starting to disturb him! He already goes to bed at half 7ish upstairs then we go to bed in the same room later. We don't have a monitor either although I sometimes worry bout that.

my eldest went into his own room at 4 months and we both slept better for it. DS2 is 6mo and 1 day and has been in his own room for a couple of weeks now, he still doesn't sleep though.

My first went into his own room at six months, my second is now 14 weeks, and went into his own room at three weeks. He sleeps 10/12 hours at night, and has done since 9 weeks. We have the monitor on full blast at night.

I bf my first until he was 19 months, and plan to do the same with DS2, so not sleeping in my bedroom at night, in my experience, doesn't have to impact long-term breastfeeding.

My Ds was placed in a cot in his own room at 4 months.

We had just moved homes so thought we may aswell strt with an ongoing routine.

He's now 5mo and sleeps from 10pm-6am

Gosh, do you mean just for naps, and until you go to bed at night? I kept my children in our room for over a year, but they napped in the room with a monitor during the day, and went to bed before us from a couple of months old. Never occured to me to do anything else, and compared to most people I know I'm quite cautious about these things!
