She's going anyway because even though she argued until she was in floods of tears, the job centre have told her that if she does not she'll have her benefits taken away.

She's strictly vegan and has been since her mid teens - she's now in her late 30s. She won't even wear leather shoes. They are sending her to be interviewed for a job in an abattoir Shock Normally I'd say if people can work they should but surely she's got a good argument for not going for this job?

What on earth can she do? Will she be sanctioned if she lets them know her views during the interview and does her best not to get the job?

Damned if she doesn't. Damned if she does.

It's a bit of a seismic shift from vegan distressed at prospect of attending abbatoir interview, to delighted vegan accepting (office) job at abbatoir.

It's also one thing to attend interview, another to accept a job.

Go for the interview and be honest with the employer.

I thought refuges were exempt from the equality act when advertising for staff.
I used to work for a women only organisation and they didn't have to recruit men

They are MrsD and its always written in the job ad that's why it's so annoying getting shit loads of applications from men especially when they are hand delivered and we give written proof they have applied.they know they couldn't get the job so does the DWP but they tell them if they don't apply then they will sanction them

I was advised by adult ss to advertise in the local job centre - I'm disabled so employ a variety of people to help me.

I got back 300+ completely inappropriate applications, and was really upset to find out I was just used as a form filling exercise for that office.

A severely disabled woman forced to go through hundreds of cvs, a handful of which even fitted the basic requirements, let alone actual experience or skills.

The effort made me iller than I already was, and didn't even interview one person as no one was actually suitable.

But hey, as long as the employment office got to tick their forms...
