Not to POAS yet?

I'm 4 days late usually clockwork to the hour... DH is sat across the room from me blissfully unaware. it's his birthday though and we've got loads of fun stuff planned all weekend - as he's never usually indulged it's nice for the focus just to be on him for once. I'm reluctant to change the mood with a big POAS drama (I definitely want to involve him in POAS drama when the time's right, not sneak off and do it on my own)

I'm thinking I might hold off till tomorrow after all the fun stuff... besides, AF could have come by then...

That's not U is it? Tell me your DH/P POAS tales...

I POAS without (now) DH and told him the next day! Wanted to tell him in person, and was staying away for a night. That was hard to do!

I say do it now. You will very much be 'out of the moment' if you're thinking about it all day.

ViviPru · 27/04/2014 08:56

"I do think getting your dh excited and then it being negative would be quite a let down."

I agree and that's partly why I've not done it yet, but equally, I really want him to participate in the anticipation and find out together. So I'll wait till birthday fun times have subsided, as they will have by this evening.

Red I get what you're saying about the nice feeling of keeping it to yourself, although that's how it feels being now 5 days late without mentioning it!!

Thanks all for helping me process this!! If it were any other ordinary weekend at home I'd have got on with it by now.

I would say POAS as I got a very feint bfp the other day but am holding on for another couple of days before I take another test so I know why you're holding off

Like you AF hasn't shown her face but after 2 years ttc and 2 mc's I'm a bit cynical about things!

PacificDogwood · 27/04/2014 09:17

Is it Monday yet?
Somewhere in the world?

ViviPru · 27/04/2014 09:21

Pacific I've changed my mind, going to do it today after trip out. Will keep you posted!

PacificDogwood · 27/04/2014 09:25

Oh phew! I am not sure I'd've lasted until tomorrow Grin

Hurry back, will you?!
Happy birthday to your DH Cake

Tinkerball · 27/04/2014 09:36

I always did it myself, just in case it was negative as I wanted to surprise DH when it was eventually positive.

Ellie36 · 27/04/2014 09:43

Thank god you've changed your mind! Thought I'd pop back today in time to say congratulations, couldn't believe you were still resisting!

I POAS on 2nd Jan, didn't think I was pregnant but dh and I were putting away bathroom stuff (renovating house, things getting moved from room to room!) and there was an old test so I said "sod it I'll pee on it so we can chuck it out" it went positive whilst I was still POAS! Been trying for 3years, despite the fact I'm now getting kicked I still can't believe it!

Good luck!

ViviPru · 27/04/2014 10:00

Haha Ellie, that's great!

I think if it were earlier in my cycle and I was feeling impatient I'd probably do a quiet one privately too. But being 5 days late when I've never been a day late in my life, no other obvious reason why I should be late and having DTD at all the right times this month is making the test start to look like a bit of a formality.

Don't worry though I'm realistic and not getting all ahead of myself, we've not been particularly dedicatedly TTC; more not trying/not protecting, and I could most definitely cope with a negative! While disappointing, it would actually be somewhat of a relief, I'm bricking it!!

Haha reading that back I realise NT/NP is a bit at odds with surreptitious OPKing mentioned upthread this month but my friend who is struggling to conceive and I thought we'd run a little experiment this month and do everything by the book to see what happens. Obvs my DH was not privy to this little enterprise...

ICanSeeTheSun · 27/04/2014 10:19

Hope you get a BFP, happy birthday to your DH hope he gets a gift that he will never forget.

ViviPru · 27/04/2014 12:01

UPDATE

This afternoon's activities have had to be postponed till the morning due to inclement weather (the operator just called to reschedule) so looks like it's going to be POAS earlier than I thought. DH is out now doing his dangerous man-hobby (praying he doesn't break anything) so when he gets back it's "erm, special week was supposed to be last week...." time.

I feel a bit sick!!!

Ellie36 · 27/04/2014 12:03

Have you POAS yet then?! I'm so confused/impatient/excited!

Busymumto3dc · 27/04/2014 12:05

Exciting!

ViviPru · 27/04/2014 12:06

Sorry, sorry no not yet. I'm going to wait till he comes back and tell him I'm 5 days late so perhaps we ought to take a test. But this wasn't going to take place till this evening/tomorrow originally, but now its going to be within the next couple of hours.

I'm actually shaking like a big Nancy.
