Jojo Maman Ridiculous

JumpRope · 26/04/2014 16:37

Is this ridiculous?? I bought a two-pack of trousers from JoJo and when I washed them, one leg shrank by about 5cm. Looked really stupid, so I took them in to show the shop. They would do an exchange or credit note (but for only half price I paid as they went down in a sale). BUT my daughter was wearing the other pair from the pack, and they wanted me to make her take them off and hand them back too. I would have had to top up £7 for the new set as the price had gone down, or take the credit note and walk off with no trousers on dd. so I just left it.

But no apology or goodwill whatsoever. Sa was shirty and unpleasant when I said it was 'not very good' - I actually meant the shrinking trousers were not very good, but she took me to be criticising her decision on the refund and prattled on about not returning only one shoe if it was faulty. Urgg.

If you are taking something back from a multipack I would always take the whole pack with me.

I assume you had no receipt and that is why they only offered the price they are now? That's standard practice

I think you were a bit foolish actually. If they came as a two pack, then the shop will obviously want both pairs back in order to refund/credit you.

CoffeeTea103 · 26/04/2014 16:42

But you bought them as a pack? So how can you only return one? Anyway seems like they were fair.

UriGeller · 26/04/2014 16:43

You should have taken what you actually bought back ie both pairs in the multipack but they should have refunded you the price you paid not the price they are now. They are faulty goods.

wiltingfast · 26/04/2014 16:49

Yes, definitely, you should have got a full refund.

Sirzy · 26/04/2014 16:50

Unless she had a receipt or other proof of purchase how could they give a full refund when they don't know what she paid?

rookiemater · 26/04/2014 16:53

YABU - why would you go in for a refund with your DD wearing half of the pack?
Did you have the receipt?

wiltingfast · 26/04/2014 16:54

The goods were faulty though. Totally different ball game to just wanting to bring them back.

SuperScrimper · 26/04/2014 16:55

How weird to only try and return half the pack Hmm

Sirzy · 26/04/2014 16:56

So then you exchange for the same at the current price and you don't lose out. Or you keep your receipt.

If she can show what she paid for them then that's not the stores fault.

I didn't actually intend to return them, I just wanted to show them and see what they said.

And didn't have receipt.

Fairylea · 26/04/2014 16:58

Surely if one pair shrunk you wouldn't want to keep the other pair??

Shops can't refund or exchange when only one part of a multi pack is returned. For stock purposes a multi pack is one item.

CharlesRyder · 26/04/2014 16:58

I think you should have taken both pairs back.

That said, I have witnessed SAs is my JoJo being really shirty about returns a couple of times. I think they really don't like them.

windchime · 26/04/2014 16:59

So you were happy for you DD to wear the other pair, knowing that they would also prob shrink in the wash too? I am very Confused

CoffeeTea103 · 26/04/2014 16:59

So you didn't want to return it but just wanted what exactly? What goodwill were you expecting. No wonder the lady responded the way she did.

theonewiththevoodoo · 26/04/2014 17:00

so why didnt you exchange the pack and give her back one new pair and the faulty pair?

softlysoftly · 26/04/2014 17:01

But why would you just show them? What did you expect a shop worker who didn't A design or B make them to do? Confused

All she can do is refund faulty goods and she can't do that if your daughter is wearing half them.

Some folks are odd and I don't mean the shop assistant!

Actually I think they were somewhat unreasonable as they were obviously not of merchantable quality.

Madamecastafiore · 26/04/2014 17:18

If something has been reduced you need proof that you purchased it at a higher price to receive that price and you need to return something in its entirety, surely this common sense?

Did you expect them to just refund you one pair or give you half a new pack?

JumpRope · 26/04/2014 19:04

What in earth were they going to do with the other pair??

OP posts:
technosausage · 26/04/2014 19:08

It doesn't matter what they were going to do with the other pair, you can't return half a multi pack!

AvoidingEasterDIY · 26/04/2014 19:09

If you just wanted to see what they said - you have achieved your goal :)
