Jojo Maman Ridiculous

Is this ridiculous?? I bought a two-pack of trousers from JoJo and when I washed them, one leg shrank by about 5cm. Looked really stupid, so I took them in to show the shop. They would do an exchange or credit note (but for only half price I paid as they went down in a sale). BUT my daughter was wearing the other pair from the pack, and they wanted me to make her take them off and hand them back too. I would have had to top up £7 for the new set as the price had gone down, or take the credit note and walk off with no trousers on dd. so I just left it.

But no apology or goodwill whatsoever. Sa was shirty and unpleasant when I said it was 'not very good' - I actually meant the shrinking trousers were not very good, but she took me to be criticising her decision on the refund and prattled on about not returning only one shoe if it was faulty. Urgg.

There was nothing wrong with the others though. What a waste. Agree with MrsDeVere. At least some acknowledgement or assistance given dd had the other pair on would have been better than her "computer says no" response.

Be honest, what did you want? It wasn't just to have a chat about the faulty trousers. You had that, yet you're not happy.

meganorks · 26/04/2014 19:19

In this instance I think you were ridiculous. If you return something then you need to return it all. Why would you not. Why would you take your daughter in wearing half the pack. How stupid!

JumpRope · 26/04/2014 19:34

I didn't think it through. Anyway, I'm still not impressed by the lacklustre attitude.

I agree with MrsDevere. It's not OPs fault that one pair were fine and one pair were faulty. I would want to return the faulty pair and keep the good ones regardless of whether they were sold in a multipack or not. And a shop with decent customer service would allow this!

Sirzy · 26/04/2014 19:40

you can't expect to return half a product. You take it all back or non back

londonrach · 26/04/2014 20:17

Multipack whole lot needs to go back. You should have dressed dd in other trousers. What else did you want them to do?

IDontDoIroning · 27/04/2014 08:13

It's not a straight return if she didn't like it etc. this one is faulty. I would say OP is legally entitled to get her money back or a replacement for the faulty one. And the retailer should not have insisted the other was returned. And as for only giving the lower price very poor customer service. So no only were they faulty so they sell shoddy goods they don't even refund what you paid.

Not entirely related but this reminds of the day I was in Boots and saw a well known TV actress at the counter. She drew my attention initially because of her celebrity status. Anyway I then noticed she was having a tense conversation with the SA. She had brought back two packets of vitamins from a "buy two get one free" offer. She was asking for her money back. The SA told her she'd have to bring all three back. She was really shirty and rude to him. He stated very calm throughout and kept repeating what he was saying. Eventually he said "I don't think you understand" to which she replied "I do understand I just think it's stupid the third one was free". She then stormed out of Boots which such a red face I thought she'd explode!! Hilarious, if she got away with that she'd never pay for her vitamins... I wonder had she tried it at Holland & Barrett Shock

Franny1977 · 27/04/2014 08:25

OP I don't think this is the same as you BTW, it just reminded me of it Smile

halfwildlingwoman · 27/04/2014 08:27

When I have bought from this company on-line I have always found excellent service, quality and no-quibble returns. I returned something faulty once and they refunded it before I had actually returned the product. My advice, buy on-line.

BiscuitCrumb · 27/04/2014 08:39

Without a receipt any store would only refund the sale price because they have no way of telling whether you bought pre or post sale. And why on earth would you dress your child in the other pair from the multipack. I agree with the lady it is like returning the one shoe.

You'll learn next time OP. But I don't think this is JoJo maman bien's fault.
