to believe the remaining UK should not make special exceptions for Scottish economic refugees?

In the event of Scottish independence, the Scottish economy will be in the toilet. In this event, Britain should not be allowed to become a magnet for Scottish economic migrants.

I wouldn't blame Cameron if the Scots choose independence; the Tory party don't exactly have a strong foothold in those parts. However, I will certainly excoriate him if he gives an inch in any negotiations in the event of independence - especially if he allows large scale unskilled immigration from Scotland into Britain.

An independent Scotland would have almost zero negotiating power and Britain should exploit that to maximise our own advantage.

Maybe it is the bloke from yesterday, who showed us his tiny member.

ComposHat · 21/04/2014 22:42

You aren't looking for reasoned debate you are looking to shit stir and well you know it. So please refer to the answer I gave a few minutes ago.

Grennie · 21/04/2014 22:43

Scotland may do better economically? Personally I think the economy will stay much the same as it is now.

Tenrec · 21/04/2014 22:44

I would've thought if Scotland DOES become independent, they would perhaps have dual (Scottish/UK) and then it would only be in the following generations that people would only have a Scottish passport?

BrunoBrookesDinedAlone · 21/04/2014 22:46

Unskilled migration facilitates da fast food nation.

Last train to Goadsville OP, unless you want to disembark at a suitable p&t parking spaces thread?

Grennie · 21/04/2014 22:47

Publically it has been said that Scottish people will be given the choice to have dual nationality, or opt for one nationality. I would have thought most people would opt for dual.

JustSquirted · 21/04/2014 22:47

Ffs.

longfingernails · 21/04/2014 22:47

ComposHat On the contrary. I believe that the governments of nations have a primary duty of care towards their own citizens before foreigners (hence this thread). I have conviction in my beliefs. I believe that small-c conservatism (not the Cameron kind) is superior to socialism. I believe that free trade and capitalism are the greatest engines out of poverty the world has ever known.

You, on the other hand, seem to believe in profanity and insult.

Would be same situation regarding living/working that the UK has with ?Ireland, surely.

Would the OP want all the English people working in Scotland to return home too, taking their skills with them?
(Yes, I know I shouldn't bite)

DupontetDupond · 21/04/2014 22:49

Drivel. Have loads of Scots pals - the more that this sort of trolling misinformed cack comes out the more they will vote yes. I'd do the same.

BasketzatDawn · 21/04/2014 22:49

I think OP is a mate of yon Lord Robertson of CataclysmCentral. Grin

Ubik1 · 21/04/2014 22:51

I've had such a lovely weekend hillwalking with the children. Today we claimed a hill near aberfoyle. It overlooked loch Katrine. Stunning scenery.

BeyondTired · 21/04/2014 22:52

How could the poor old remaining uk cope with the influx of immigrants?

I suspect, by taking into account the people in england/wales/ni who would fancy a move north

:)

DupontetDupond · 21/04/2014 22:52

Was it Ben A'an? The trossachs are fab

longfingernails · 21/04/2014 22:52

TheRealYellowWiggle That would be up to Scotland, via its government. If they decided they didn't want British people working in Scotland, then yes, British people shouldn't be allowed to work in Scotland.

I think Scots should certainly be allowed to work in Britain in the event of independence, but only if they are highly skilled migrants.

It was Ben a'an - loved it, and the four year old made it to the top!

TheRealYellowWiggle · 21/04/2014 22:55

That's crazy. I am a tax paying, British person working in Scotland (not born here) - is I could vote for independence and then they could kick me out? With or without my children? Confused

OldLadyKnowsSomething · 21/04/2014 22:56

Basketz, you may have a point. Grin There are certain similarities...

Guess the lovebombing is over then?

PeachandRaspberry · 21/04/2014 22:56

I personally think we should rebuild Hadrian's Wall.

MintChocAddict · 21/04/2014 22:56

Ben A'an was my first and only climb. The scenery was stunning but I prefer chilling oot enjoying scenery than hoofing it. Was a lovely day today for a walk though. Smile

BasketzatDawn · 21/04/2014 22:56

Ah, but would the people of England and Wales and NI really be 'British'? It wouldn't exactly be great or united without Scotland.

MollyHooper · 21/04/2014 22:57

Ugh.

Why don't you bugger off, stick Braveheart on and sneer longfingernails?

You will have more fun.
