We have about 1000 left at the end of each month after everything is paid and still feel skint Sad

OP posts:

The responses here are just shitty.
Outright shitty!

OP, just be glad you aren't wearing washing up gloves for shoes and eating grass fried in oil for dinner as how dare you ask a question about money on mumsnet unless you are on the bones of your arse. How dare you!

Hmm
BeyondTheSea · 18/04/2014 22:33

I think you spend up to (and beyond) personal income at the time. So the amount you earn isn't really relative. When I was a student I lived on pasta and tinned tomatoes all week and seemed to be able to survive on about £10 a week.

DamnBamboo · 18/04/2014 22:33

Who calls someone a cunt over something this?

Seriously!

ricericebaby · 18/04/2014 22:35

Around £8 a month left over after every single essential is paid for.

TooOldForGlitter · 18/04/2014 22:35

We have zero disposable income. Zilch left after I get paid and pay rent, CT and childcare. We live day to day. Both work.

Ruushii · 18/04/2014 22:37

Oh dear coco :O

Just in case:

Hacker, I think it's obvious my £3000 disposable income was sarcastic. Try closer to £0 for me. Well, it's actually in the minuses but a girls got to have some dignity.

uselessidiot · 18/04/2014 22:42

I breathe a sigh of relief if we're still in the black at payday.

Alisvolatpropiis · 18/04/2014 23:00

My dp and I don't pool our finances entirely, just what is necessary for mortgage, bills and food.

I have £400 give or take.

Will be more when I've finished paying off my fucking stupid completely worthwhile postgraduate loan. Only a year left by current estimations. A year couldn't come fast enough.

Tweasels · 18/04/2014 23:56

"Who calls someone a cunt over something this?"

I fucking do.

And if you don't understand why; there is something wrong with you.

alexiarolls · 19/04/2014 00:08

We have as much as OP after bills and food but put it straight into savings so it doesn't get spent. DH and I are both savers, I've never spent up to my income even when I was on benefits, always set some aside for emergencies. Stay frugal no matter how much you have coming in - we still shop at Poundland and use vouchers for going out. I enter every tiny bit of spending into a phone budgeting app, even a 99p purchase on ebay.

Quinteszilla · 19/04/2014 00:11

Not much. Dh is frugal, but I overspend.

He regularly moan that I have aspirations above our means. I guess he is right. We are by no means poor, but I feel poor, due to cash flow issues, but that is my own fault.

mouse26 · 19/04/2014 00:18

I don't get paid that a month Sad I work out my outgoings when I get paid, I'm very anal about it too so its entered into an Excel spread Blush on payday I usually have about £50 to play with after all of the bills and food, I manage about 100 a month in savings but that can soon get wiped out if the car needs work or something in the house needs replacing. BUT we live to our means and if I earned more I probably wouldn't feel any better off, when I earned much less we still only had about the same.

WooWooOwl · 19/04/2014 00:19

I agree there is no need to call someone a cunt for something like this.

Maybe OP is shit stirring just for a cheap thrill, but maybe not.

If you can't look outside your own limited experience and get offended that other people might have different, perfectly valid, experiences that they might want to post about on a public forum, then don't read a public forum.

Tweasels

I don't see why the op deserves to be called a cunt.

I'd love to have that disposable income, but I don't. It's all relative as to how much is enough.

Apatite1 · 19/04/2014 00:24

That's quite a bit left over after essentials. Why do you feel skint? Do you need advice on money management? I'm sure some MNers can offer tips on financial prudence. I'm not being sarcastic here.

RussianBlu · 19/04/2014 00:26

You are a joke.

DevonCiderPunk · 19/04/2014 00:33

No idea really as DH doesn't disclose his balance. But I save at least a couple of hundred from my salary every month.

cerealqueen · 19/04/2014 00:36

Nothing, we are financially fucked. Might lose the house.

Ponkypink · 19/04/2014 00:36

A lot less than that, but still usually plenty unless there are major house/car repairs. Not sure why you feel skint really, seems an odd way to look at it.

cerealqueen · 19/04/2014 00:40

What would you expect to have against what you have? Could you cut back on non essentials?

DamnBamboo · 19/04/2014 00:47

Tweasels nothing wrong with me you foul-mouth, green-eyed .... I'll leave it at that!

How crass!

DamnBamboo · 19/04/2014 00:50

Continued use of expletives ery interesting.
I also find it very sad (and pity is a terrible thing) when someone loses their argument because they're... oh let me put my finger on it ... just not particularly able to articulate themselves in a reasonable fashion.

BlackeyedSusan · 19/04/2014 01:10

ha ha ha...

oh dear. frivoulous spending ... two to three pounds on crafty stuff per month. buying the ten pence books from the library, maybe £100 per year on books from the book people including presents... (surprised our flat hasn't pancaked the ones below) the children go to the cafe every school holiday. once per holiday. after school sports club. we pay for a holiday once per year. spend up to ten pounds permonth on stuff just because it is educational.. we have a reasonable lifestyle, even if the flat is not a house with garden! we have enough savings to replace white goods when they die.

Gruntfuttock · 19/04/2014 01:21

My monthly income is £115.39 so I can't grasp what it must be like to have £1000 a month left.
