To brush my teeth in the shower

Sometimes if I am short of time I will brush my teeth in the shower while hair is rinsing off and I thought this was fairly normal but my DP thinks its slightly odd to spit toothpaste in shower. I don't spit I just rinse mouth with water from shower and the excess gets rinsed off body anyway. So am I odd or is she right ???

I have never heard of it before. Isn't it a faff putting toothpaste on brush. And isn't it weird using warm water possibly with shampoo in it?

SpringBreaker · 16/04/2014 11:30

odd. I can only brush my teeth with icy cold water.. over the basin.

TheLostWinchesterWife · 16/04/2014 11:32

Nope. I'm quite happy to brush my teeth in the shower. Wouldn't do it in the bath though!

Valdeeves · 16/04/2014 11:32

I do it - multi tasking!

horsetowater · 16/04/2014 11:33

I think you need to get up 2 minutes earlier :)

Sparklingbrook · 16/04/2014 11:34

I do this in the morning. Warm water cleans things much better than cold water-that's a fact. I clean them during the 2 minute conditioner wait. Grin

Mouthwash after i get out of the shower.

ThePriory · 16/04/2014 11:34

Gross !!! (but funny)

Sparklingbrook · 16/04/2014 11:34

How is it gross? Cleaning your teeth can never be gross.

Whitershadeofpale · 16/04/2014 11:35

I do it too.

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 16/04/2014 11:35

I don't think it's odd , I'd just not remember to take in the toothbrush and paste and I wouldn't get out to get them just to step back in again.

AMumInScotland · 16/04/2014 11:35

I don't know how you can bear rinsing with warm shower water, but if it works for you then feel free! Not sure how it saves any time, or how you can rinse your hair with one hand while brushing your teeth with the other. But maybe I'm just too cack-handed to even try!

Yama · 16/04/2014 11:36

Richard Madeley does this. It's funny the things you remember from 20 years ago (last time I watched This Morning).

Goldendandelion · 16/04/2014 11:36

I don't see how it is quicker. Doesn't it just mean that you are in the shower for longer?

Sparklingbrook · 16/04/2014 11:37

I have a Waterpik and always have warm water in it-cold is painful. Grin

Sparklingbrook · 16/04/2014 11:38

No Gold. Conditioner on for 2 minutes before rinsing-teeth cleaned for 2 minutes. Same time.

Petitgrain · 16/04/2014 11:41

I do it too, can't see a problem.

Youdontneedacriminallawyer · 16/04/2014 11:44

Do you really need to leave conditioner on for 2 minutes? Mine is on and straight off again.

Goldendandelion · 16/04/2014 11:52

But I wash my face and body and shave my legs while the conditioner is on, so doing my teeth too would mean an extra 2 mins in the shower.

Beanymonster · 16/04/2014 11:58

I brush my teeth in the shower after I put my conditioner on, and then when I'm done it's time to rinse my hair! I always feel so much fresher stepping out the shower with brushed teeth!!

Sparklingbrook · 16/04/2014 12:03

I always leave conditioner on for two minutes-thought that was the rules? Grin

kentishgirl · 16/04/2014 12:05

As long as you are cleaning them and not leaving spitty toothpaste in the shower for the next person to tread in, who cares?

Petitgrain · 16/04/2014 12:06

The longer you leave conditioner on, the better, especially as the heat of the shower will make it penetrate the hair really well. So brush teeth too is my advice!

Sparklingbrook · 16/04/2014 12:07

Thank you kentish. Smile DS2 (12) does it and it's great as no dried spitty toothpaste in the sink.

DrownedGirl · 16/04/2014 12:09

I keep a second toothbrush and toothpaste in the shower specially!

BridgeMix · 16/04/2014 13:18

Hmm, I wouldn't like the warm water but to each their own. However, if you are leaving the shower running for an extra 2 mins or so whilst you're toothbrushing then that is a big waste of water.
