WIBU to knock neighbours flower baskets off fence?

Never had issues with neighbours before but 2 weeks ago they nailed plant baskets onto the fence that backs onto my garden, the nail/screws are sticking out by an inch into my garden. I went round 2 weeks ago when I noticed them and explained that they were sticking out and that I was worried about ds hurting himself on them, they apologised and said they'd take them down. Thought no more of it till today (presumed they'd been took down), ds scratched his arm on one! Would it be unreasonable to take a hammer to the screws and if they fall down, well they should have dealt with it?

Just hammer the back of the nails so they're flat against your fence. Problem solved.

I think you need to go back round and tell them what has happened. Ask them if they would prefer you to knock the nails back from your side.

How old is your DS?
Just wondering because hanging baskets are usually pretty high up so it would me more likely an adult would hurt themselves on it.
But certainly I wouldn't want nails poking through.

The baskets are varying heights, so the ones at the top aren't a problem (6 ft fence) but its the middle and bottom ones which are dangerous. They seem to have made a zigzag shape with them from how the nails are.

I don't own a hacksaw otherwise I would do that.

I don't know if id be able to bend them against the wall, they're quite thick!

If you would prefer not to turn this into an issue, then I'd go round and tell them what happened and ask them to remedy the situation ASAP.

If you relish creating a good drama, then go ahead and knock the baskets off. Be prepared for them to go straight back up though, as I can foresee the potential for tit-for-tat here.

In summary, they have been unreasonable in not doing something about the nails as you had requested. YWBU to knock the basket off the fence.

I agree with iam. They're naughty to have left nails poking through - but for your own sake try one more civil attempt.

Who's fence is it? Are the uprights on your side? If so it (and its upkeep) belongs to you and they shouldn't be hammering stuff to it without asking really anyway.

If you own a fence you can put it up any way you like. Though fair face showing to the street or neighbours is more common

Can't you just cover the nails? There will be something you can use from the DIY shop.

Yes it broke the skin, I've cleaned it with antiseptic, and plastered it over but I'll ring docs in morning. Hopefully he wont as they are new nails.

Im going to go round when they are in, and hopefully they will take them down this time or do something to make them less dangerous.
