Took dd to MacDonalds today. For us this is a holiday treat as we enjoy the odd burger, although dd is really just lured by the plastic tat in the happy meal TBH. She is slim and eats normally rest of time.

But, bloody hell, the people in there were beyond belief really. Makes me realize how other families actually live and why the health of the country is as it is.

Family 1- all huge, and the youngest dd (aged about 9) was definitely the fattest and not only that she was eating a full sized meal, and worst of all was wearing a full red velour lipsy tracksuit with gold embroidery!!!!!

Family 2- Two boys with their dad, all sat vacantly staring at their food and munching away. First boy opens his (supersize) fries and says "wheres the salt?" Dad doesn't say anything, just fishes in the papers on his tray and passes packet of salt to child. The chips are ALREADY covered in far too much salt, especially for kids, and if the child asks for salt this makes me think this is a regular thing for him, to cover his food in salt.

Don't these people take any responsibility for their health AT ALL?

OP posts:

I think the McDonalds is for when KFC run out of chicken (which has happened at least twice to my knowledge and I don't go there often!)

MrsCakesPremonition · 13/04/2014 17:01

The OP may not have been blaming the child, but she had a lovely time sniggering at her instead.

DawnMumsnet · 13/04/2014 17:02

@Misspixietrix

Only 1.9million DawnMumsnetHQ Piece of Piss surely? Grin .

I said a million and nine, actually, Misspixietrix Wink

Anyone roughly my age would know it's a line from the film Gregory's Girl.

Anyone?

Ah well, as you were ...

Misspixietrix · 13/04/2014 17:04

No ubik someone reported it because the person namechanged to twattishly comment how she sniggered at an overweight kid...oh and the comments made shortly after kinky posted about the effects of her child having cancer.

somewherewest · 13/04/2014 17:04

The problem with judging by appearance is that slim does not necessarily indicate healthy. I've always been stick thin, despite a fairly fatty, sugary diet. That's just genetics. But the thin = healthy idea is seeping into popular culture via all the well-intentioned emphasis on obesity.

Misspixietrix · 13/04/2014 17:05

Now stop nitpicking Dawn. Do you want the Gin or not? Grin. I have chocolate cake too. .

ilovesooty · 13/04/2014 17:06

Thank you for the response, Dawn Mumsnet but frankly I'm disappointed. I think one goady, cowardly name change like this is more than enough. I don't want posters like the OP to be able to post this shit and then go back to their untarnished user name and for HQ to fail to act until they "make a habit of it". Idon't want to wonder who this cowardly OP usually posts as.

Obviously I was too optimistic to hope you might review your policy.

weneedtotalkaboutshriver · 13/04/2014 17:12

And found the thread has been reported becausr someone doesn't like it

RTFTD. What Pixie said (in case you haven't read that either) It was reported because the reporter (and others) was concerned that it was becoming too easy to hide behind a name change to be obnoxious and then revert to the MN royalty name when being less so. Not saying I agree or disagree, but that's what the reporting was about

MissDuke · 13/04/2014 17:17

I was distraught last week when we drove past a McD's that we have never been in only for my only just turned two year old to get excited and start shouting 'chips'. I didn't think we go there that much :-/ The whole logo thing is unbelievable, the way children learn them. I was even more distraught when shopping the next day she kept calling a leek a banana, I think she was winding me up though as she kept pretending to eat it and laughing. Ahem, pointless post, sorry....

ilovepowerhoop · 13/04/2014 17:18

I think the OP's posts have been blown out of proportion and words have been out in her mouth that she never even said. No wonder she hasnt come back to the thread

Sirzy · 13/04/2014 17:18

I think that is a good point somehwerewest, we seem to have got so focused on the weight side of things that we have lost sight of the fact that a bad diet/lifestyle is bad whether you are lucky enough to eat what you want and not put on weight or if you eat the same and pile on weight.

Yes obesity is undoubetly bad, but so is an unhealthy lifestyle.

weneedtotalkaboutshriver · 13/04/2014 17:20

I liked your post MissDuke and I really wouldn't be too worried about your DD recognising the arches logo. It's the early stages of reading!

ilovesooty · 13/04/2014 17:22

ilovepowerhoop please identify where words have been put into the OP's mouth?

Imo she hasn't returned as she's got the reaction she was looking for but didn't dare seek under her normal user name.

MrsRuffdiamond · 13/04/2014 17:25

I see many overweight/obese families in Ikea canteen

Surely not? I didn't think they let you in, unless you were slim and blonde?

Misspixietrix · 13/04/2014 17:34

What words Ilove? She meant exactly what she said.

BeerHunter · 13/04/2014 17:46

You know the little paper cups in McDonald's that you fill up with sauce? Well they open out so you can put even more in and dunk your fries easier.

There's even a video on YouTube showing you how to do it
It's a bloody revelation.

RedToothBrush · 13/04/2014 17:47

I see overweight/obese families in Asda, Tesco, Morrisons, Sainsburys and if I ever went to Waitrose I'm pretty sure I'd see them in there. I'd even hazard a guess and say that they might frequent the likes of the Fat Duck on occasion too. (Well certainly their parents).

These people are everywhere!

The only way to protect yourself from catching the Fat Plague is to never leave your house and to order food in by the internet.

Oh...

Actually that plan might be flawed too....

...Accept it. You're fucked because you entered the Golden Arches. You've caught the disease. You will now develop a habit like all the other people who go there, and go there ALL THE TIME, instead of going for a treat like you.

Its only a matter of time before your daughter start asking for velour tracksuits.

MissDuke · 13/04/2014 17:48

Thanks weneedtotalk I will think about it that way from now on :-)

HoneyDragonDoesNotGiveAShit · 13/04/2014 17:54

I see many overweight/obese families in Ikea canteen

Yeah but they're the poor sods who've lived off meat balls for 10 months because they are still looking for the way out.

RonaldM · 13/04/2014 17:56

I can't believe people like the OP, some people are so distanced from reality it is unbelievable.

I'm glad that most rational intelligent people on mumsnet draw the obvious conclusion.. All the obese spotty faced families are enjoying a once in a lifetime treat from their usual organic vegan staple and their appearance is always caused by unfortunate medical problems unrelated to diet. They almost cetainly won their meals in a competition too so aren't wasting money on it, and gave in fact made a sensible financial choice.

WorraLiberty · 13/04/2014 17:58

Ubik you may not have seen any fat people in Denmark

However, 47 per cent of Danes are overweight and 13 percent are obese according to 2012 statistics.

Misspixietrix · 13/04/2014 18:10

BearHunter feel free to post a link How the hell do they open up? Youz not helping the fat kids with your revelation by the way Grin

Misspixietrix · 13/04/2014 18:12

They were clearly all hiding from Ubik Worra

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 13/04/2014 18:13

RonaldM... Well, perhaps you're right BUT on the offchance that these remarks are fired at somebody who DOES have the health problems and associated medications that requires, would it not be better to keep the gob firmly shut and follow that up with keyboard silence on the subject?

You're as goady as the OP... very like it really...
