to think the hatred for Next is just backlash against the popular and successful?

I don't get it, they stock such a wide range of products and styles how can everyone on here hate them? Whatever you find in other shops, you can generally find in Next too.

It's just bandwagonning isn't it? It's popular so it's cool to say you hate them isn't it?

In my eyes, if I want nice kids clothes Next has it- from cute and girly, to hooker style, to nautical, to traditional, whatever you want they have it!

They have women's stuff in formal, casual, tarty, frumpy, maternity, everything under the sun.

I shop in loads of places, including Next, but all the Next hatred puzzles me.

I dislike next clothes beyond the babygro selection. Utter tat. My sister in law was obsessed with the stuff, and got herself into masses of debt to make sure her son was dressed head to toe in the stuff all the time.

LoveVintage · 13/04/2014 15:04

I agree that their sizing now is all over the place. I used to buy online but got really fed up with tops being far, far too big for me.

But,I love their relaxed skinny jeans. (although even their jeans sizes can be very unpredictable) Their school stuff is really good quality. I have boys - their boys jeans and chinos are really good, and I always stock up on them, underwear and socks in their sale.

Orangeanddemons · 13/04/2014 15:53

I wouldn't dress my 8 year old in ever nice sparkly trilby for you little one

Orangeanddemons · 13/04/2014 15:55

Should be your little one. Both vile though. Why does a 6 year old need a trilby? Why not just a sunhat? It's the fabric and high fashion of the older girls that make it look horrid

Odaat · 13/04/2014 16:47

What's wrong with a trilby!?

Orangeanddemons · 13/04/2014 17:02

Looks trashy to me! Too high fashion for a little gir. Isn't it Next that do those horrid Baker boy hats.? They're nasty too Grin

I do not like the idea of sexualising young girls with the aid of slutty clothing. Still cant understand the trilby hat link thoug... But each to their own!!

Orangeanddemons · 13/04/2014 17:24

Maybe I just don't like Trilbies Grin. I do think there an item aimed at older people, not at 5 year olds. They just look tacky on a very little girl

Orangeanddemons · 13/04/2014 17:25

They're....

Haha, orange ... I have pet hates too. Diamanté anything makes me vomit a little..

firstchoice · 13/04/2014 17:47

don't like much of their little girls range Sad
sometimes their girls cotton frocks are pretty and some embroidered trousers / jeans but lots of it is much more 'teenage' than I want my 6 year old to look.
The boys stuff is too trendy for my lad - trousers all weird shapes etc.
for kids I like boden but it is very pricey. I buy it in the sales and buy big and get 2/3 years out of it. It is soft and thick and doesn't irritate their eczema which I find thinner cheaper fabrics can. also, younger styles go up to age 12, or you can start buying more 'teenage' styles around age 8 I think, so the customer has the choice for the age 8-12 range, which I like.

Next homeware can be nice.
The womens clothes I am sadly a bit - ahem - large for atm.

ikeaismylocal · 13/04/2014 17:58

I am put off by any shop where I walk in and there is a well defined girls section and boys section. I don't see any difference between Next and primark and the supermarkets, all have such rigid gender divides.

My ds looks great in purple, it's hard to find purple in next which isn't very girly.

I particularly hate all those t shirts with girls faces on them. Not sure why, but I just do

Nocomet · 13/04/2014 18:17

Do any of you have a real live nine year old girl?

I can't find a single thing on the Next Web site which is in the least unsuitable for a young girl.

There is nothing tarty or 'teenage' to be seen.

The fact they go up to 16 is very useful for those of us who's DDs grew out of their age clothes between 9 and 12, but didn't get adult curves to 13.

DD1(16) still wears Next kids stuff she had at 12, it's just shorter.

Nocomet · 13/04/2014 18:19

Honestly, post a link to 'too teen'

I have 2 sons...which it's hard enough to find good quality, hard wearing clothes for that don't have characters or skulls or stupid quotes all over them...
Would hate to be dressing girls in this day and age...nightmare.
My niece is 2 and so I can still get her pretty and suitable stuff but once they turn 4 the clothes manufacturers seem to go a bit...odd Hmm

soontobeslendergirl · 13/04/2014 18:56

I find it useful when I can get stuff half price in the sale as my 12 year old is 5' 8" (and takes size 9 shoes :( ) so age 15 or 16 fits him well - I can get a pair of decent chinos in the kids sale for about £10-12 whereas even in the sales a man's pair are a lot more than that. My 13 year old is slightly taller and takes roughly the same size so I can't pass anything on either. H&M kidswear only goes to 14+ joggys and joggy shorts and t-shirts fit ok but the trousers are too slim fitting.

Nocomet · 13/04/2014 19:00

Two things out of several hundred kids items is a bit mean on a whole catalogue.

I also hate wet look leggings on anyone of any age. As for the top, DD2 does that to perfectly nicely fitting things just to wind me up.

The present selection is very tame.
