I am fed up with teaching . I actually think I hate it and I have been threatened by kids and unsupported by slt too many times so I quit.
The holidays are great for dd and I though. Tomorrow I have an interview in a law firm for a secretary.
I am chuffed as I have been interested in being a legal secretary for some years now. However it will be 9 to 5 full time and less holidays.
I will be thrilled not to have to plan in the evenings etc but worried I won't see much of dd. I will still be able to spend time with dd won't I? We already have our summer holidays booked so I can request holiday for that time...should I get it?

Do you know or understand how they view email/mobiles?

Might be a bit of a shock.....

I think you will feel invigorated. But it's very different. Good luck

I would say look for part time teaching work at another school or maybe consider being a Higher Level Teaching Assistant? You won't earn a teacher's salary but you will have the school hours and less pressure. Depending upon your subject as well it might be possible to tutor a couple of evenings a week to supplement your income.

If you gave up teaching to become a legal secretary how much money would you have to pay for childcare/holiday club/afterschool or breakfast club? I work and spend a fortune on childcare. You might find that once you had paid all the bills you would be taking home less as a legal secretary than a TA would earn. Also, many afterschool clubs etc are oversubscribed and you may not be able to get a place.

Another problem can be that many of the holiday clubs don't quite fit with a 9 - 5 day. Most of the ones that are close to us run from about 8.30 - 5.30. As it takes me more than 30 minutes to travel to work I have to ask other people to help with drop offs / pick ups. I am very jealous of the long holidays that teachers have.
