Sorry to tell you it was very popular in Aus this summer. But I didn't think the UK would sink so low Grin

Sirzy · 06/04/2014 07:18

I have seen a few neon bits in the shops. Not sure I would go quite that far but I am loving some of the bright colours which are appearing.

whereisshe · 06/04/2014 07:20

It's been back for a while. The trickle down (catwalk to high street) has been slower than normal because no one else can believe it either...

MrsCampbellBlack · 06/04/2014 07:28

There was lots around last summer too - I like a bit of neon but only in pinky/coral shades.

alot of neon in glasgow on sat. They are not known to be shrinking violets though

charitygirl · 06/04/2014 08:03

Masses of neon last summer too - I like coral neon, and I have the semi ubiquitous Zara neon scarf in yellow.

NormHonal · 06/04/2014 08:04

Definitely one for the "young"!

Although I saw a 30something mum with young children in tow do this right last week. She had a neutral-coloured top (it might even have been gym kit) with just a small stripe of neon on it, and her nails were the same colour. Just a small hint. She looked great, and the neon gave her outfit a little quirky update.

fortyplus · 06/04/2014 08:08

I don't think it's ever been 'in fashion' - it's worn by people who think they're whacky, crazy, funny etc. I was over at Bray Lake near Maidenhead yesterday - outdoor, countryside, watersports etc and I saw a woman wearing an entire suit in nearly-neon orange, She looked ridiculous - mutton dressed up as lamb.

MrsCampbellBlack · 06/04/2014 08:08

Its not just for the young. If you like it then wear it. I do neon coral nails and have a couple of tops in that colour - its bright and cheering and the right colour can look great on people.

TiggyKBE · 06/04/2014 08:15

Sorry to tell you it was very popular in Aus this summer - Yes, but they're wearing it because they're still catching up from the 80s.

Sirzy · 06/04/2014 08:33

I have recently got myself a pair of bright pink jeans. Not quite neon but bright enough! I'm 30 so I hope people aren't going to think I am too old to wear it!

PrincessOfChina · 06/04/2014 08:38

Lots of neon last year. I have a cut neutral cami with neon yellow birds in a tiny print.

StrawberryCheese · 06/04/2014 08:44

There is a woman in my office who is sporting the dark fake tan and dyed black hair look at the moment. Twice last week she was wearing neon. They were hairy looking jumpers, one orange, one pink, teamed with beige leggings and white heeled trainers. I can't get the image out of my mind. I blink and I can still see her!

Pipbin · 06/04/2014 08:47

Remember ladies, if you wore it the first time round then you are too old to wear it the second time round.

Marylou2 · 06/04/2014 08:49

A tiny bit can't hurt can it? I've got neon coral pink toenails at the moment and a neon pink Boden bag is calling to me. Maybe it's a slippery slope

Woodenheart · 06/04/2014 08:52

Handholding OP - this neon madness will soon pass

Envy
StrawberryCheese · 06/04/2014 08:54

marylou I think the odd neon accessory is fine and I quite like the sound of neon nails but I draw the line at neon hairy jumpers.

PerhapsNot · 06/04/2014 08:59

I like a bit of neon too.

Both of these are ok

wowfudge · 06/04/2014 09:03

fortyplus it definitely has been in fashion back in the mid 80s. There was a fashion for things like odd coloured neon socks - one yellow, one pink - and various other things. It was around the original batwing jumper time!

Legologgo · 06/04/2014 09:59

Bollocks pig bin.
I'm 43. I have neon shoes clutch and t shirts. I don't wear together #highviz
