To be dreading the night ahead?

Ok, first of all, I'm expecting a flaming for being a shite mom, etc...but

DS (2.6) still sleeps with a baby bottle of water

And tonight, we're going cold turkey. He's put his bottles in a bag, and left them outside the door for the "Easter Bunney" who will take them during the night to give to the babies.

I don't know what to expect! Similar experiences, anyone? I know I should have done this before now, and I'm ashamed!

Why can't he have it? I'm 42 and I still take water to bed with me, admittedly not in a baby bottle though.

It's the Baby Bottle thing. Will give him water in a "big boy" sports bottle. Shouldn't he be off the baby bottle by now? Blush

Mine were way older than that. Blush they are 12 and 14 now and they are fine-honest. Please don't worry about this-he's only little. now if it was Vimto or something.....

Not sure about the demanding a refill though. Grin

I've basically been told by a family member today that I'm guilty of neglect, and that most kids are off their bottles by 6 months!

My dd1 was about the same age, and the sports flask worked.

I just made a HUGE fuss about what a BIG girl she was, getting a BIG girl flask and we never looked back.

Dd2 was a different story took a bit longer and a good few tears & tantrums. Good luck

Bugger my youngest is 19 months and has a bottle of milk to fall asleep with every night

My eldest who's 7 drinks a while evian size water bottle per night too

My 5 yo goes to bed with a tommy tippee first stage cup with water at night. So does the nearly 3 yo. They are easy and manageable when half asleep and don't spill to easily. Sports bottles often require more force. I'd really not worry.

My two were both definitely still having baby bottles of milk before bed a long time after they were 6 months.

I really don't see that having a baby bottle of water at night at 2.6 is neglect or even anything to worry about.

I used to worry about DS coming off the bottle (makes it sound like he had a drink problem Grin)... and older and wiser friend said to me 'How many adults do you see drinking from a baby bottle?' Nuff said, and he gave it up in his own time :)

6 Months!!! seriously!!! That sounds like bullshit to me :)

A bit like my MIL telling me she started potty training when her babies came home from the hospital, apparently she held them over the loo :/

Your relative is an arse. What happens in the bedroom should in my opinion stay in the bedroom so I'd keep doing what you are doing and make non-committal positive noises if oasked.

Bottles of milk at night can cause tooth problems. Bottles of water are perfectly fine... Confused

Buggar see if he can do without but if not who cares? And just don't tell judgey family members.

My sister had a bottle and a dummy until she was 6/7? With tea in her bottle. And sugar!

She is very lucky but at 34ish has beautiful teeth.

I'm not recommending you go that far but water won't hurt.

I am sure there were still baby bottles about at age 3+ with water in. They never left the house though-mainly at night. They were just a convenient non leaky way to have a drink.

I think we got a non leaky cup after that. But this was all years ago so I may be out of date.

Sorry...phone is very slow. He seems excited tbh. He's asked if he can have "green big-boy hair like mommy" when he "wakes up big" Grin. Yes he's spilling it everywhere...he's waking up with a wet bed regularly.

My DS had a baby bottle of milk before bed until he was 3.5, he'd chew the ends of the teats. I'd tell your family to do one. Why risk an upset over water in a bottle.
