Ok, first of all, I'm expecting a flaming for being a shite mom, etc...but

DS (2.6) still sleeps with a baby bottle of water

And tonight, we're going cold turkey. He's put his bottles in a bag, and left them outside the door for the "Easter Bunney" who will take them during the night to give to the babies.

I don't know what to expect! Similar experiences, anyone? I know I should have done this before now, and I'm ashamed!

Son still has milk before bed from a baby bottle. He is nearly 30mths. Will have a cup/glass for everything else. My mum thinks it is dreadful but I don't really care. There are bigger battles in life. If I wanted to have milk out of a bottle of an evening, what would actually be the issue? Don't worry OP. If it works, fine. If it doesn't, why stress?

BuggarMeGently · 04/04/2014 21:13

Sorry...phone is very slow. He seems excited tbh. He's asked if he can have "green big-boy hair like mommy" when he "wakes up big" Grin. Yes he's spilling it everywhere...he's waking up with a wet bed regularly.

My DD is nearly 8 and she goes to bed with a Tommy Tippee sippy cup thingy of water. It's water! Who cares what it's in?

The reason we use the cup is that if it falls into her bed in the night because she takes a drink and doesn't put it back, it doesn't leak everywhere.

It's milk that shouldn't go in bottles in bed. Mainly because of the sugars in it that are bad for teeth. Same goes for squash in any vessel!

TheScience · 04/04/2014 21:16

Bottles of milk are a problem if teeth aren't brushed after.

DS1 still has a sucky cup for water at night.

BuggarMeGently · 04/04/2014 21:18

And it's my sister...she's also got a problem with me dressing him in pink! She's a horsenugget.

Do anyone's DC ever cry if they finish their drink in the night, or drop it out of bed and can't find it?

My youngest had a bottle of milk to go to sleep until about 3 - it was a nightmare, his diaper exploded every.single.night. We moved to a new house which was fortuitous, we told him we couldn't take the old bottles to the new house and he just bought it.

I can't see major problems with water, although it could be a problem with dropping the nighttime diaper - surely they're not as interested in water?

BuggarMeGently · 04/04/2014 21:25

Tmi sorry...but yes his diaper is so heavy in the mornings.

That was the impetus for me getting mine of the nighttime diaper, I was washing sheets 3x a week. It was not difficult. With kids this age it's nice if you can tie it in with something else - like a friend having a baby who needs the bottles for her baby, or like us the new house worked beautifully, or the Easter Bunny takes them!!

BuggarMeGently · 04/04/2014 21:33

Gawd...that's thenext part of the fun..potty training! You from the UK, Truffleoil? The word diaper gave it away?

My DS is almost 5, he goes to bed with a non spill toddler beaker each night. I have no intention of giving it up/changing it unless he wants to. His beaker is the Tommee Tippee Explora Easy Drink Beaker.

TruffleOil · 04/04/2014 21:34

I've been here for a decade and I'm still working out the vocab. I'm in the UK but am guilty as charged - American.

BuggarMeGently · 04/04/2014 21:35

Wow...you guys have opened my eyes ! Pardon the pun, like. Thank you.

I was born in the UK but grew up inBaltimore. And yup...my DS wears diapers too! Grin

TruffleOil · 04/04/2014 21:38

I didn't state that very clearly above - I couldn't have even considered dropping the nighttime diaper at that age. I simply wanted it to stop exploding. That was why I dropped the nighttime bottle.

TruffleOil · 04/04/2014 21:39

Baltimore - excellent food. :-)

DS cries when he runs out of water. He was out of nappies at night at 2.8m and has never had an accident, nor has he ever asked for the toilet in the night. This is definitely a don't sweat it situation. Your baby your rules and if he is happily having a bottle with water when he is 5 and it works for your family screw everyone else.

TruffleOil · 04/04/2014 21:45

^Sure, I would not worry about water at all except for bedwetting - which we've had huge problems with.
