To expect to leave work on time

I'm a HCP
Last night I was scheduled to work a twilight shift, 20:00-02:00
It dawned on me on my way into work that I should actually finish at 1 as that's when the clocks change.
Plenty of times I have worked the night when the clocks go back and we don't get an extra hours pay or anything. It's just chalked up to be 'one of those things'.
But when I asked if I could go at 1 (which was then 2) I was told 'no, you work till 'the old 2'. So I asked if all the other night staff would be working until 9am (normally finish at 8) to compensate too. Obviously not.
It pisses me off - don't put me on a bloody twilight shift on this date if it's going to be a problem! So, as it was I couldn't be relieved to leave on time anyway so got home at 3:45.

I'm probably bring U but the place is a fucking joke with the management etc so I just needed a tired rant.

The clocks change at 2am so there's a flaw in your argument from the off. Providing you are in the UK of course - I don't know what the set up is elsewhere.

As long as you are not actually working an extra hour which you are not getting paid for YABU. And rather ridiculous IMO.

They do actually change at 1am, when going forward and at 2am when they are going back.

Will you be expecting a day off if you're scheduled to work on February 29th if it's a leap year.? It's just the way it is.

I don't care about getting paid for it - like I said in OP I have worked plenty of night shifts in the reverse situation

I don't know, I think if you are hourly paid or in a low pad job maybe YANBU to think about this, but as a professional I'd never dream of quibbling over an hour. As "overtime" goes it is very little to do. If you are a dr or senior nurse YABVU to argue the toss.

So if I'd be scheduled to leave at 3am and not 2am you're saying I should still have not bothered about the clocks? What about 4am? Or 6am?

Surely the point OP is that you haven't actually worked an extra hour for which you have not been paid?

I obviously am not slack enough to stand there watching the clock and then waltz out on my patients - obviously I work a huge proportion of unpaid overtime, like the rest of the nhs

I think that you should have got to go at old 1am as it was then 2am and your reliever should have come in at the new 2am. If you were sheduled to go off at 3am you'd have got off at old 2am. I would complain about that as the person relieving you wasn't then coming in at 2am but at 3am, you should have been the lucky one getting an extra hour off.

Actually I worked more, as I said in OP - I left late, either way.

Wow, learn something new everyday. I didn't know that about it being 1am when they go forward. I see what you mean now.

You were scheduled to work 6 hours. You worked 6 hours. YAbit unlucky to be scheduled for that shift, rather than the one immediately afterwards, but YABU to complain about it

I think you should all have been paid for the extra hour.

I suppose there are people who don't like their jobs much who over think this sort of thing.

In your position OP I think I'd be concentrating on the situation of having to stay over as you weren't relieved on time.

If you're being expected to work 7 hours for a 6 hour shift when the clocks go back then that is the time to complain.

As I said - I have worked plenty of nights where the clocks go back and you don't get paid the extra hour

I think you have a point, OP, given you are expected to do the extra hour in October.

YANBU, it should balance out. 1 hour extra unpaid in October, time which you then get back in March.

It is currently 11am, the staff relieving you should have arrived 9 hours ago, which was 2am. If they turned up at the old 2am, which was actually 3am, they were late!
