To be shocked at neighbour??

I was having a very rare chat with my downstairs neighbour, I'm in a duplex and she's in a flat underneath with her front door under the stairs to my place. Two very separate buildings really and you can hear absolutely nothing from one to the other.
We were talking about ovens and I was saying I'm a pretty useless cook but really been trying this year, something was said about what shelf is best and she said "because heat rises", at this stage DD was getting impatient and I just made a stupid joke about how that'll come in handy for me next winter (given that she lives underneath), not even true because I had my heating on loads this winter and I only said it out of silliness.

Well I've just gotten a text from her saying "Domestic, I've been thinking after our discussion earlier and I'm feeling a little hard done by if I'm honest. Perhaps we could have a chat later on and come up with the fairest way of dealing with the issue regarding heating"

What the actual fuck, I don't know what to say back but I really can't afford to pay her for having her heat on just because heat rises??

Is she a deserted wife?

I would block her number on my phone.

Don't respond to crazee.

GarlicMarchHare · 25/03/2014 15:42

Can you get a CD of men running up stairs, followed by the crashing of bed springs and orgasmic utterances? Then play it loudly, five times a day, at unusual hours. Or, better still depending on available potentials, do it for real?

steff13 · 25/03/2014 15:43

She is implying that OP's DH dumped her. Ireland didn't have divorce until recently, different culture to UK.

Oh, is that what she meant?! How horrible. This has been a very strange turn of events. OP, I'd avoid her as much as possible from now on.

DownstairsMixUp · 25/03/2014 15:43

Whattt? Surely she sent that by mistake?!

NurseyWursey · 25/03/2014 15:43

What the hell.

Uncalled for that last message from her.

She sounds odd and spiteful

slithytove · 25/03/2014 15:43

"I still won't be paying your heating bills even if I do get a deserted wife's payment"

AngelaDaviesHair · 25/03/2014 15:44

I agree about blocking her number.

TheProsAndConsOfHitchhiking · 25/03/2014 15:45

oh Wow.

DomesticDisgrace · 25/03/2014 15:46

I'm definitely not replying, I'm actually laughing here!

She's clearly nuts. No she definitely means it as a dig, when I bought this place I was with Ex and I ended the relationship last summer. To everybody it probably does look like I've been "deserted" as they'd only see him now coming on Saturday to take DD! Haha my goodness I'm literally Shock right now!

Wtf is she saying with that link? That she is completely behind the times and thinks you should apply for a benefit that was discontinued and replaced with another one in 1997?

Just an idea, but maybe try and avoid her from now on? My previous downstairs neighbour started out being a bit odd and offering to be with me duding the birth of DC Hmm but I assumed it was just me. 6 months later she was threatening to kill me and my newborn DD (although screaming it through her front door means I couldn't be sure it was intended for me, apparently) and the police were bashing in her front door as she'd made a 'strange call' to the emergency services and no one was answering her door.

That was fun.

ScrambledSmegs · 25/03/2014 15:47

Ohhhhhh. I get it now.

Bless her. Isn't she a card Grin

Avoid avoid avoid!

Fullpleatherjacket · 25/03/2014 15:48

Read this thread like this >>> Shock

Reckon you need to do some serious neighbour swerving in the future. She sounds like a cross between Single White Female and the original bunny boiler Shock

BadlyShavedYeti · 25/03/2014 15:50

Dear Neighbour - Please stop communicating with me, you are starting to piss me off

Regards

Your non fruit bat neighbour

EthelDorothySusan · 25/03/2014 15:52

Dear Neighbour, have you visited your GP lately? Please do not contact me again.

Aventurine · 25/03/2014 15:52

What a bitch

Logg1e · 25/03/2014 15:53

(I can think of one link you could send her).

RandomPants · 25/03/2014 15:54

Maybe she really is on glue.

fuzzpig · 25/03/2014 15:54

Ohhh see I took the link to mean "don't be mean to me, I'm all alone, therefore you should pay my heating bill"

But given your update yes it certainly seems like a rather large dig.

Like this one logg1e? :o

Duckegg80 · 25/03/2014 15:57

Send her the fuel allowance link (not really I'd just be really tempted).

What a wagon.

MaidOfStars · 25/03/2014 15:57

I would withdraw from this interaction immediately, with no explanation or excuse. Her level of thinking is descending into either nastiness or sinisterness (real word).

Stropzilla · 25/03/2014 15:57

Dear neighbour. I don't understand the link you sent me - are you trying to imply that I should be paying your heating bill you belive I am better off than you? Simply insulate your flat.

Deliberately misunderstand the link!

LessMissAbs · 25/03/2014 15:58

I think you should print off this thread and post it through her door, with "FYI" written on the top page.

OP she has clearly been watching you. There are some people, and strangely they seem mainly to be women, who will try and take advantage of a woman on their own. She is one of them. Nip it in the bud.

Cocolepew · 25/03/2014 15:59

Maybe shes implying you should be able to pay her, what with you getting your deserted wife payment and all
