Quite light-hearted but AIBU to find this a bit weird? Friend in question had his 40th recently and had a big party. Said friend thought the pic was hilarious and brilliant and was going round showing the picture to everyone on his phone. So he certainly wasn't embarrassed about it. It was taken in good humour and everyone was laughing about it but then lots were also saying that they thought it was quite odd. The Mum was there too and also didn't seem remotely uncomfortable! She is quite eccentric. Just can't imagine the thought process and how she arrived at that decision..... "Oooh, my son is turning 40, what can I do to mark it? Oooh, i know i'll get me and loads of my mates with my baps out, take a picture of it and send it to him!"

The calendar was made specifically for this birthday? That it weird.

If they had made one for charity or some such and sent him a copy, maybe not weird, depending on the personalities.

ButterdickCumberscotch · 20/03/2014 22:35

My husbands mother gave him a pack of photos of her when she was younger. None of him, mostly just her hanging out with her friends and wearing a bikini.

I thought that was a bit weird. YANBU

WooWooOwl · 20/03/2014 22:36

Weird and cringeworthy.

Rollergirl1 · 20/03/2014 22:42

It wasn't an actual calendar. It was a photo that had been sent by the Mum by phone to her son. The picture was of her and about 6 other women all with naked top halves sat behind a long table. You couldn't actually see anything but it was clear none of them had any tops on. And the picture was posed for specifically with the intent of sending to her son because he was turning 40. Confused

treas · 20/03/2014 22:53

Not what I'd do but weird shit happens

treas · 20/03/2014 22:53

weirder shit happens - doh

ScarletStar · 20/03/2014 22:53

Mad. But my MIL is mad and I can imagine her doing the same, she'd think it was funny and 'a bit naughty', as in childish. The difference would be that my DH would be traumatised, lol.

Suzannewithaplan · 20/03/2014 23:18

would said mum have welcomed similar pictures of her father and his cronies when she turned 40?

Fecklessdizzy · 21/03/2014 00:11

Confused Definitely weird. Sending topless pictures of yourself to your kids - how is that NOT creepy?

Fecklessdizzy · 21/03/2014 00:13

... Or was he bottle-fed and she's trying to make amends?

ComposHat · 21/03/2014 01:18

Just what everyone wants for their 40th birthday, a saucy picture of their mum and her pensioner mates in the nip.

Given the age of the participants. I hope the birthday boy bought the geriatric calender girls something to keep the chill off their chests ( like a pair of legwarmers)

EurotrashGirl · 21/03/2014 01:42

YABU. Some families have a unique sense of humor, and the son thought it was funny.

MusicalEndorphins · 21/03/2014 01:51

Incestuous and creepy. I would rip it to shreds, even though I know it would be very aggressive to do so. What the hell was she thinking? Gross. And creepy, did I say creepy?

NancyinCali · 21/03/2014 02:45

My husband turned 40 yesterday and the thought of such a photo being produced by my MIL is making me queasy...

Monty27 · 21/03/2014 02:51

Just
Shock

Caitlin17 · 21/03/2014 03:04

This is one of the weirdest ideas I've heard of. I was thinking how peculiar it would be to do that to my son (when he's 40 I'll be 71). I hadn't even considered how utterly bonkers it would have been for my mil to have done it to my husband when he was 40.

bubblegoose · 21/03/2014 03:24

Very, very weird.

fruitandnuttycake · 21/03/2014 07:59

I fail to see what being bottlefed has to do with it Hmm I certainly won't be getting my baps out for my ff son for his 40th

OP YANBU it is a little incestuous

ImAThrillseekerHoney · 21/03/2014 08:02

Strange but funny and harmless. It might well refer back to a longstanding family joke. I'd be more squished out if it was just the DM.

ImAThrillseekerHoney · 21/03/2014 08:08

Squished = squicked

TheBody · 21/03/2014 08:11

wtf with the bottle fed comments!

er no not something I would do but maybe it's some sort if family joke.

glad you lot arnt in ss child protection with such ridiculously judgy attitudes though.

it was a joke. maybe not in good taste but a joke. Jees.

TheBody · 21/03/2014 08:16

MusicalEndorphins you sound far more wierd quite frankly! calm down girl. Grin

LessMissAbs · 21/03/2014 08:39

I can only imagine someone very narcisistic doing something as odd as this!

softlysoftly · 21/03/2014 08:43

But but but how is it a joke??

How is getting a saucy pic of your mum funny.

I I I just can't Shock
