Quite light-hearted but AIBU to find this a bit weird? Friend in question had his 40th recently and had a big party. Said friend thought the pic was hilarious and brilliant and was going round showing the picture to everyone on his phone. So he certainly wasn't embarrassed about it. It was taken in good humour and everyone was laughing about it but then lots were also saying that they thought it was quite odd. The Mum was there too and also didn't seem remotely uncomfortable! She is quite eccentric. Just can't imagine the thought process and how she arrived at that decision..... "Oooh, my son is turning 40, what can I do to mark it? Oooh, i know i'll get me and loads of my mates with my baps out, take a picture of it and send it to him!"

What the jeff?

As I said she is pretty wacky. And it was definitely meant as a joke, but still a bit bonkers and weird. My friend asked me what I thought about it and I said that she is the only Mum I know of that would do something like that, but that I still thought it was a little weird. He still wasn't bothered, which I think is absolutely fine.

As other people have said I would be totally freaked out if MIL did the same thing to DH. But this friend is still living the life of a 25 year old, hasn't settled down or anything. Perhaps if he had a significant half who found it weird he might have been inclined to agree.

Weird as fuck.

This is hilarious.

A bit odd and not something I would do but I suspect the Mum did it with a bit of irony tbh.

I dont expect she did it to be saucy for her son or any sinister incestous reason. More as a really silly giggle and to make him cringe like hell.

I think it's funny.

Some puritanical, uptight and downright weird reactions here.

TheBody You made me laugh, I did sound very dramatic reading it again today. Blush

How sweet.

'Happy Birthday darling. Remember how you used to love sucking on these?'

I personally find it weird but once had a boyfriend who had an odd mom who would do stuff like buy candy penises and give them away, make penis jokes all the time, etc. Apparently it was like a bachelorette party 24/7 with her.

But the it never bothered boyfriend at all, he frankly found it hilarious. So while I do find it incomprehensible I have heard of things similar. I suppose if it doesn't bother him it's 'OK' but goes away beyond my comfort level!
