To have just shouted at a horse rider outside my house

Have namechanged for privacy.

I am so angry right now. We sometimes (twice a year at most) get horses going past our house as we live around the corner from a small private farm. We live in a city, so it's quite a novelty when we hear the sound of "clip clop" outside.

About 20 mins ago we heard the sound of clip clop and I took DS to the front room to look outside. As we watched the horses go by one stopped and kind of turned around and SHITTED RIGHT OUTSIDE MY DRIVEWAY. Not a small bit...a big arse full of horse shit. And the rider laughed at her other horsey friends.

As soon as I saw it I put my shoes on and ran outside and the rider was going on her way again. Her friends had gone up ahead. I ran up to her shouting "excuse me" and she wouldn't stop. I shouted at her if she was going to clear up the horse poo outside my house and she replied "stop shouting at me" without even turning around to see I had a toddler in my arms.

I couldn't go any further because I was holding my DS and had left a sleeping baby inside.

Now I have a pile of horse shit outside my house, and I want to actually KILL this horse rider. Our road is a school route and I don't want children stepping in it but why the fuck should I have to clear it up? I am so pissed off. I want to get into the car and hunt down the fuckers and pull them back by their ears and tell them to clean it.

Im with you op. Just because its a horse doesnt mean it should be allowed to shit anywhere for someone else to clean up. I get really pist off with people being dismisive and horsey... stop being dirty high and mighty tramps

rabbitlady · 04/03/2014 21:17

you are not being unreasonable. horse riders are often arrogant and inconsiderate of others.

A few months kotinka, I thought it had peaked with the OW thread last night but nooooooooo...

figrus · 04/03/2014 21:22

YANBU, op. That would drive me mad too.

Its surely not too much to expect the rider to clean up the mess on her way home from the stables when she is horseless. She saw you were upset. All she had to do was say 'sorry' i'll be back to pick that up later'.

I live in the country and my pet peeve is when riders, on small country roads, wave their hands up and down, when you are approaching in a car. Sorry, you arrogant shits, i am going at the correct speed limit. If your horse cant deal with cars passing it, go gallop in the fields. I mean you automatically slow down when you see people walking, cyclists or horse riders on the road. But only the horse riders arogantly flap the arms when a car approaches.

BigRedBall · 04/03/2014 21:23

everlong because I don't use my regular name for starting new threads. I did read your earlier post, but don't feel the need to justify myself. :).

I live in an urban area, but we have a riding club right in the middle of the suburb. The club is very strict about their members coming back to collect any poop after they have finished riding and when they ride out in a big group one of the members follows along behind in a ute to pick up any waste. As a result, every manages to live harmoniously. I'd be pretty annoyed at big groups of horses leaving a mess all over the roads if it weren't cleaned up.

Cringechilli · 04/03/2014 21:24

YANBU. Disgusting. It's one thing leaving it on a road but quite another outside your house on a busy walking route. Really antisocial behaviour. It forces you to clean it up yourself because you don't want smeared shite for yards outside your house. Horses shouldn't be ridden in such areas unless necessary like police/police training etc.

Bowlersarm · 04/03/2014 21:25

I'm a dog walker who flaps my arms figrus . Fucking crazy speedy car drivers along my road.

mayhavenamechangedforthis · 04/03/2014 21:25

if I was the horse rider I would go past every single day in the hope my horse shit outside your house.

I have a horse and If you had shouted at me like that I would have laughed in your face.

jesus there are some complete fuck wits about!

I've had the runs in a hedge, what about that one? AIBU?

wouldbemedic · 04/03/2014 21:28

The stupidity of shouting behind a horse. How would you have felt if it had bolted? Other road users could have been put at very serious risk - all on your shoulders and a lot worse than a pile of manure (which is irritating). Of course she had to ride on and keep control of the horse. The toddler in your arms is irrelevant, (other than that you may have frightened him too). If you want to complain, you know where the yard is. There's a time and a place. And a good way to do it!

When I had a horse, I would return with a shovel in situations like this. Nothing you can do at the time.

Famzilla · 04/03/2014 21:28

Hahahaha.

OP are you Liz Jones?

mateysmum · 04/03/2014 21:30

FIGRUS have you any idea how arrogant you sound. If you are doing the "correct speed limit" what does that mean 30/40/60 according to the national speed limit for that road.

You say you slow for cyclists/pedestrians/horses and only the riders wave - er well that would be because they are sat on 1/2 ton of animal and the others aren't. I have never had a rider wave at me because I always pass wide and very slow. They are waving because they perceive you are going too fast for the safety of yourselves as well as them. And that makes them "arrogant shits". You sound lovely.

You would have laughed in my face for asking you to clean up behind you? Why so much arrogance? Isn't it just common courtesy to clean up mess you've made on a street? Would you throw your crisp packets and half eaten sandwiches on the road too? What if someone asked you to throw them in the bin? Would you laugh at them too?

And before you give the old "have you seen how big horse poo is" crap, there is nothing stopping you from going back, horse free, to clean it up.

I need to know more about the elephant as a bridesmaid!?!?!?How, where, why?

BigRedBall · 04/03/2014 21:34

Toddler in my arms obviously meant I couldn't run up to her fast enough to speak face to face so had to shout to grab her attention.

Mrsmorton · 04/03/2014 21:35

figrus you sound like a selfish twat to be fair.

Riders wave their arms so people notice them and slow down, my horse was killed in an RTA, granted not while I was riding him but whilst he was being transported.

Have you ever seen such a huge and beautiful creature haemorrhaging to death in the road, firefighters in tears because there's nothing they can do, broken bones littering the carriage way, all because some selfish arrogant cunt thought they were doing "the right speed limit". Almost 20years on and still I have nightmares about it. How would that make you feel?

maggiemight · 04/03/2014 21:35

I got shouted at once by a horse rider who appeared to me, in my car, to be stationary, chatting to her fellow horse rider, and filling half the road. I waited then when nothing happened drove past - she yelled and waved her whip Shock . Apparently it was a young horse in training - like I was sposed to know that. I was so peed at her snottiness that I am no longer sympathetic to horse riders though do, of course, slow right down for them.

Take comfort that you prob spoilt their ride out, OP, though am not sure how she could clean up her mess but she could have shouted Sorry!
