To have just shouted at a horse rider outside my house

Have namechanged for privacy.

I am so angry right now. We sometimes (twice a year at most) get horses going past our house as we live around the corner from a small private farm. We live in a city, so it's quite a novelty when we hear the sound of "clip clop" outside.

About 20 mins ago we heard the sound of clip clop and I took DS to the front room to look outside. As we watched the horses go by one stopped and kind of turned around and SHITTED RIGHT OUTSIDE MY DRIVEWAY. Not a small bit...a big arse full of horse shit. And the rider laughed at her other horsey friends.

As soon as I saw it I put my shoes on and ran outside and the rider was going on her way again. Her friends had gone up ahead. I ran up to her shouting "excuse me" and she wouldn't stop. I shouted at her if she was going to clear up the horse poo outside my house and she replied "stop shouting at me" without even turning around to see I had a toddler in my arms.

I couldn't go any further because I was holding my DS and had left a sleeping baby inside.

Now I have a pile of horse shit outside my house, and I want to actually KILL this horse rider. Our road is a school route and I don't want children stepping in it but why the fuck should I have to clear it up? I am so pissed off. I want to get into the car and hunt down the fuckers and pull them back by their ears and tell them to clean it.

Let me go and jump in it and then walk back in my house and leave a trail of it everywhere

Why would you want to do that OP? Confused

You really are being such a drama llama. Thankfully you had a toddler in your arms or Christ knows what mayhem you would have caused.

ohmymimi · 04/03/2014 16:44

Rose grower.

Bowlersarm · 04/03/2014 16:45

It's gone because clearly your neighbours do have roses.

ormirian · 04/03/2014 16:45

Seriously OP if this really upsets you and it happens a lot you could send a letter to the farm owner and ask them if they would mind coming around once or twice a week to clear it up. Might work.

PiperRose · 04/03/2014 16:45

Ahhh international crisis avoided then. PHEW!

sparechange · 04/03/2014 16:45

So OP, you've gone from thinking that horses coming past you are a novelty that is worthy of being entertainment for your DCs, to something that should be banned?

Just out of interest, if the horse that shat (shitted?) outside your house was a police horse, would you have screeched at them and expected them to come back and pick it up?

Mrsmorton · 04/03/2014 16:46

OP do you think you might benefit from a hobby? or something else to do that means you don't have the time or inclination to chase people going about their daily business

You sound like a nightmare. Someone chased me in e when I was on my bike and started shouting at me (because thy thought I shouldn't be on the road but on the pavement instead Hmm ) I asked her to stop shouting at me and to stop chasing me. She realised see was being a twat and apologised. Just saying.

usualsuspect33 · 04/03/2014 16:46

Maybe someone scooped it up and flung it on the horse owners doorstep.

Can I just ask one question please as I think it changes everything...

Road or path?

limitedperiodonly · 04/03/2014 16:48

NigellasDealer I like people calling 'morning' or 'passing by' as it happens.

I think it shows a better consideration to other people than not.

But I agree with you that some people on this thread are chippy about riders because they think rider = toff.

A few of us are Royalty but millions of us aren't.

EauRouge · 04/03/2014 16:48

If it's the novelty of the clip clopping that you like, maybe ask the farm if they can just send some pedestrians with a couple of coconut shells.

PiperRose · 04/03/2014 16:50

Dropped by migrating African Swallows?

ormirian · 04/03/2014 16:54

Oh lordy...don't get me started on swallow shit! Ignorant selfish little bleeders....

limitedperiodonly · 04/03/2014 16:57

btw I don't think you can put raw horseshit on your roses.

I think you have to collect it and let it rot down.

It's such a major problem that I might have to consult a gardening website.

But do you know what? I think I might just open a bottle of wine instead.

sparechange · 04/03/2014 16:57

EauRouge Grin

Or, OP, get your DCs one of these for their bike:

squoosh · 04/03/2014 16:57

I thought you were going to suggest grilling it.

saintlyjimjams · 04/03/2014 16:58

Yep limited - that's what people are meant to do - shout 'coming in' but this particular person never did, and never learned despite watching me dance my way across the arena every week - still it improved my seat Grin

Bowlersarm · 04/03/2014 16:59

I would compost it, I think. It might be too fresh to put straight on a flower bed.

fullerlonger · 04/03/2014 17:00

Pinkocelot most horses and riders are insured? I am. Third party liability and personal accident.

LessMissAbs · 04/03/2014 17:00

MrsMorton You sound like a nightmare. Someone chased me in e when I was on my bike and started shouting at me (because thy thought I shouldn't be on the road but on the pavement instead hmm ) I asked her to stop shouting at me and to stop chasing me.

That's what I call a ranter. Someone who starts shouting and screaming in public at people doing a perfectly legal activity.

Most recent one was a man who started shouting at me for running on the pavement. An empty pavement, apart from him, through a small quiet village. Him dressed all in black and about 14 stones. Claimed I should wear hi-viz so I "didn't cause an accident".

Similar mindset...

OP you do really sound as though you need a hobby. I would so rather be the rider out on the poo-ing horse than you in this scenario which you narrate.

WillieWaggledagger · 04/03/2014 17:01

limitedperiodonly most of the horsey people i know are on average or below-average incomes but spend all the money they have on the horses they adore

WillieWaggledagger · 04/03/2014 17:02

yes i think it needs to be well-rotted manure

ormirian · 04/03/2014 17:04

Ooh I met a ranter once. I had forgotten about him. I was walking across the common in our town with DS1 as small child. He came charging over and told me off for getting in the way of his golf practice! People are weird. Life is about give and take and accepting that sometimes things happen that aren't ideal for you.

BigRedBall · 04/03/2014 17:06

Why should I need a hobby? I have a small baby and toddler and no time for hobbies. I thought it would be fun to see a horse go by. It wasn't.
