I was running a bath for my 5 month old DS and it was almost done and my brother went in and started having a poo.

There are two toilets in the house. He decided to have a shit next to my sons bath that I was just undressing him for instead of going downstairs.

AIBU? Apparently I am according to him and others, personally I find it a bit disrespectful.

If it was his child and there was only one toilet in the house I'd have waited until they'd done in the bathroom!

I'm with you too. I'd hate to be able to smell my uncle's poo when I was having a bath!

Adeleh · 21/02/2014 22:50

In COld Feet that's the last straw for Rachel. It's when Pete makes her get out of her bath so that he can do a no 2. Five mins later his bags are packed. But he did at least wait till she was out of he bathroom.

PorkPieandPickle · 21/02/2014 22:56

YANBU. That is grim. It just would not occur to me to think it was ok to visit someone and have a shit while they were in the middle of running their child a bath. Why on earth would you not use the other toilet?! I wouldn't want other people to sit and bathe in the smell of my poo!! How embarrassing!

Actually, I wouldn't do it if there wasn't another toilet tbh, I would make my excuses and leave. Sorry bit your bro is a bit strange!!

Mim78 · 21/02/2014 23:12

I think it was horrible of him and inconsiderate. Doing a shit right next to a child's bath when he could have gone elsewhere? Definitely not on.

catloony · 21/02/2014 23:13

I am a bit confused by the posts that think that was ok, would the posters that said it was care to explain why? Because their posts were very " get over yourself!!!"

There was 2 toilets available, any normal person would choose the other toilet if a bath was being run.

Why would anyone think it is ok to stink out a bathroom when a chlld is having a bath run and about to get in when there is another toilet available?

MrCabDriver · 21/02/2014 23:14

YANBU OP! I thought it was very bad manners to do a poo if you know someone is about to get in the bath!

JohnnyFontaneCannaeSing · 21/02/2014 23:18

Yanbu that is disgusting. I'd have gone mad too!

BrianTheMole · 21/02/2014 23:19

Of course your brother is bu, the dirty stinker. Very thoughtless to leave you sitting in the stench when he could have gone downstairs. My dh used to do this to me, when I was actually in the bath. He'd walk in, sit down, stench the place out, say sorry, laugh and walk off. Fortunately he seems to have grown up a bit these days.

TheVictorian · 21/02/2014 23:30

I think the polite thing to do would of been to use the downstairs toilet especially as you were about to bath your ds.

deakymom · 21/02/2014 23:39

oooh the stench!

Alisvolatpropiis · 21/02/2014 23:41

I can see your point, I think.

QueenStromba · 21/02/2014 23:41

Having lived in a house with two toilets I would have been really fucking pissed off if someone had come in a done a dump while I was running a bath. You are so not being unreasonable - I can't believe there are so many people standing up for your brother!

Funnyfoot · 21/02/2014 23:47

Relax don't poo it
Hit the flush, just do it

lettucelamp · 21/02/2014 23:48

YADNBU. That's vile.

QueenStromba · 22/02/2014 00:00

It's just occurred to me that maybe the poo defenders have never lived with someone who stinks the place out with their poos so think it no worse than having a wee while someone is running a bath. My housemate in the house with two loos did poos that smelled like something had died in his colon - we soon banned him from taking a crap on whichever floor everyone else was on at the time.

steff13 · 22/02/2014 00:02

You're not being unreasonable, your brother is gross.

Marcelinewhyareyousomean · 22/02/2014 08:43

Disgusting and selfish of your brother, Yanbu.

We only have one bathroom and I'd go berserk if anyone did that.

TakemedowntoPotatoCity · 22/02/2014 08:53

Yuck . Yanbu in the slightest.

DownstairsMixUp · 22/02/2014 08:59

Poo smells linger when a bath is running, even with a window open! He was being selfish.

MamaPingu · 22/02/2014 09:06

I can't believe people told me to get over it!!
I'd love to see their face if someone went in for a shit just before their bath. Maybe they have yet to experience it!
It's just plain selfish when there's another toilet available literally a 15 second walk away

Janorisa · 22/02/2014 09:20

YANBU...I wouldn't be happy having to bath DS with the stench of poo lingering in the air...we only have an extractor fan in our bathroom so we couldn't open a window...

Adeleh · 22/02/2014 11:41

I'm also a little disturbed that your brother didn't feel embarrassed tbh.

chocolatemademefat · 23/02/2014 04:31

YANBU and he is a dirty bugger. The males in my house find all things shitty really hilarious - I think its a man thing.
