To find this annoying?

I was running a bath for my 5 month old DS and it was almost done and my brother went in and started having a poo.

There are two toilets in the house. He decided to have a shit next to my sons bath that I was just undressing him for instead of going downstairs.

AIBU? Apparently I am according to him and others, personally I find it a bit disrespectful.

If it was his child and there was only one toilet in the house I'd have waited until they'd done in the bathroom!

Pick your battles MamaPingu. Really, I don't think anyone could argue that your DB needed a poo.....so he had one! Unreasonable? Not really

However, he clearly annoys you, so there must be something else he does in the future, which you will have a strong case against.

I don't think this is it, though.

MamaPingu · 21/02/2014 19:02

He needed a poo and there was a choice of two toilets! One next to a fully ran bath for his nephew, and one a TINY bit further away that was empty.

I agree that this is not the battle, this is one of many incidents where he doesn't care as long as he gets his way. He has done a lot worse! But this just annoyed me as DS was undressed and ready to get in Confused

YANBU If the smell is anything like my DS who's 11 then I'd wouldn't be happy having to stay in a room with a stink like it.

Do you have a lock on the door? I'd lock it next time you're in there to stop him as it really wouldn't have hurt him to have used the other toilet.

cjel · 21/02/2014 19:22

I think that you had already 'bagged the bathroom' if you had already run the bath and I would be mad, I don't understand why he thought it was ok. Was babys bath cold by the time you could get back in?

whatareyoueventalkingabout · 21/02/2014 19:24

YANBU if the bath was already running and there was another toilet.

RandomMess · 21/02/2014 19:27

YANBU, it is awful having to have a shower/bath in a stinking room!

Supercosy · 21/02/2014 19:31

Ugh, that's horrible. I think that's really selfish too.

haventgotaclue · 21/02/2014 19:37

YANBU

TippiShagpile · 21/02/2014 19:41

We have a rule in our house. No pooing in the bathroom if a bath has been/is about to be run. Use another bathroom/keep it in.

Having a poo in a bathroom where a bath has been run magnifies the smell x100.

MamaPingu · 21/02/2014 19:42

Thank god I'm not going crazy, I think it's disgusting and so selfish.

I'm sill frustrated over it as I have no idea what was going through his mind. We are completely opposites he does everything for his own benefit and I am completely selfless.
So I get furious when he does things like this cause I'd never do it in my entire life!

The bath needed a bit more hot water in, and I had just undressed DS in the other room and was about to carry him into the bathroom when I heard the door shut. I just don't understand why you'd not see the bath then think "oh yes it could simply go downstairs"

Fortunately he will not be repeating this as I will break the door down and drag him out of there next time HmmConfused

YANBU. That's disgusting. What a pig.

Mumoftwoyoungkids · 21/02/2014 19:51

YANBU.

Ok - he didn't murder your PfB but he has made your life slightly more unpleasant which could have been avoided with essentially no effort whatsoever.

When is he leaving? Don't invite him back!

Pimpf · 21/02/2014 19:53

Yanbu

Oldraver · 21/02/2014 19:54

What did you say to him though ?

MamaPingu · 21/02/2014 19:58

I went up to the door and asked what he was doing, he said using the toilet, so I said if you're having a poo go downstairs please because DS is ready to get in the bath.
He said he wasn't and carried on Hmm

It's not a case of PFB btw I am not that sort at all, far from it. My brother is the PFB of my parents and it's made him incredibly selfish, he has done awful things to me and others but they don't see it as a problem.

I know that is going off track, but that is why I am so furious. Just another example of him doing what he wants!

MamaPingu · 21/02/2014 19:59

He has gone home now cause I had a go at him for being so blatantly selfish!

He really couldn't care less about anyone else. He wants, he gets Angry

Dollslikeyouandme · 21/02/2014 20:00

How old is your brother?

In a house with mum, dad and baby I don't think it would be awful to nip in while someone's filling the bath.

I have a downstairs toilet but no one really ever thinks to use it.

Your brother I'm not sure, if he's an adult it is a bit impolite, depends if he just didn't think or if he's generally ignorant.

I'd have probably just opened the window and sprayed something to mask the smell.

tobytoes · 21/02/2014 20:00

Ewwwww thats gross. I would be angry if someone had done that whilst I was running a bath,I wouldnt wanna smell that!!!!! Blau!!!!!!

Waltonswatcher1 · 21/02/2014 20:02

YANBU

He's 22 and lives at home having his arse wiped, I think that's why he doesn't care. Extreme case of PFB.

OP posts:
MamaPingu · 21/02/2014 20:04

Nope he will no longer be welcome here, he doesn't care for us, I will no longer care for him.
I've had a lot of trouble with him being selfish all my life but he seemed to grow up when my DS was born and was a bit more family orientated. He's now gone back to me me me

DoJo · 21/02/2014 20:36

YANBU - why make you both wait and then be subjected to the smell of poo whilst having a bath? Surprised that so many people don't think anything of this, but then I have had a wickedly acute sense of smell since having my son, so perhaps I am more aware of smells than most.

cjel · 21/02/2014 22:33

I hadn't realised it was your house, I thought that you all lived at your DMs house, thats even worseSad
