To be concerned about national unrest in a post-referendum Scotland?

So I live in Scotland, I am Scottish., we know it's coming one way or another, but the main thing that worries me is what happens AFTERWARDS? This is going to be very close possibly I guess around 50/50. Either way this means that 50% of the country are going to be hugely unhappy with the result and this is absolutely bound to lead onto to trouble.

What plans are in place to make sure and ensure that we won't have to face some ugly demonstrations and some nasty situations? People feel very strongly about this either way and it can not be denied that strong feeling and politics don't mix well.

This is a serious question so I really don't want to be shot down please.

In fairness paisley is separate city, and they'd emphasise it different from the weeg

OldLadyKnowsNothing · 19/02/2014 16:55

Prettybird, the SNP have said their negotiating team will be cross-party (though I wouldn't trust any if the Big Three these days...)

scottishmummy · 19/02/2014 16:56

The info is available.whether one find it credible or not is up to them
Can't switch on bbc scotland or radio scotland for discussion of devolution

Pumpkinpositive · 19/02/2014 16:56

Paisley is a town, not a city. Nevertheless, I'd still do him.

Did he go to RSAMD?

OldLadyKnowsNothing · 19/02/2014 16:57

Ooh, Robert Carlyle I could go for, I'm a shortarse myself.

SirChenjin · 19/02/2014 16:58

What info? A wish list is not information - it's a wish list. It's nothing more than a letter to Santa.

scottishmummy · 19/02/2014 17:00

In your opinion

squoosh · 19/02/2014 17:00

Paisley is a city!

squoosh · 19/02/2014 17:01

But yes he went to RSAMD, now known as the Royal Conservatoire...for some reason.

FiscalCliffRocksThisTown · 19/02/2014 17:02

why would there be unrest?

Right now Scotland is not independent and lots of people are unhappy with that! What would the difference be?

Pumpkinpositive · 19/02/2014 17:02

Since when? Wikipedia says its a town. close reads Wiki article

scottishmummy · 19/02/2014 17:03

aye right enough, paisley keeps getting knock back in city status application

RabbitPies · 19/02/2014 17:03

Paisley is definitely a town.

squoosh · 19/02/2014 17:04

Oooops apologies, I thought Paisley had got its city status. Poor old Paisley, it's seen better days.

mrsjay · 19/02/2014 17:06

@ jackie burd

Pumpkinpositive · 19/02/2014 17:06

Ne'er mind. Beast Kilbride applied too and got laughed knocked back too so Paisley is in illustrious company.

SirChenjin · 19/02/2014 17:06

Scotland's Future was hardly held up as a serious political document was it? It was widely derided - rightly so. It's currently adding the Scotland's landfill or propping up wonky tables.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 19/02/2014 17:07

For those who say we don't know what we are voting for I completely agree.

In the event of No vote WM has already said they will be scrapping Barnett's. The continued privatisation of the English NHS has a knock on effect on NHS Scotland. Many WM politicians have said they would like to take devolved powers back from Scotland. Where does this all leave Scotland? What will Scotland be like 15 years after a No vote?

mrsjay · 19/02/2014 17:07

But yes he went to RSAMD, now known as the Royal Conservatoire...for some reason

my youngest wants to go there why did they change itt o the royal conservatoire sounds right posh now

rightsaidfrederick · 19/02/2014 17:07

Looking at all the polling data, it's been fairly consistent that Scottish independence won't happen www.ipsos-mori.com/researchpublications/researcharchive/3310/Support-for-Scottish-independence-goes-up-in-latest-Ipsos-MORISTV-News-poll.aspx

All you're actually going to see on referendum night is Alex Salmond with a catsbumface.

squoosh · 19/02/2014 17:09

They changed it from RSAMD as it's more than just an academy of music and drama these days, it has a large and fancy new dance building so 'conservatoire' is more encompassing.

squoosh · 19/02/2014 17:10

But yes, it does sound trés posh!

SirChenjin · 19/02/2014 17:11

Alex Salmond with a catsbumface

That's the face he was born with Grin

peggyundercrackers · 19/02/2014 17:12

scotland future is only SNPs version of lies scotland future... i didnt think anyone read that nonsense and believed it - should eb filed under fiction in the library..

i dont think any gives a shiy shit about independence, well there are a few people but they are few and far between. i cant see how anyone can decide what they should vote for when we dont know what we are voting for - who has the deciding say on how things will be if we do vote yes? because of that uncertainty i cant see many people voting yes.

mrsjay · 19/02/2014 17:15
