To be concerned about national unrest in a post-referendum Scotland?

So I live in Scotland, I am Scottish., we know it's coming one way or another, but the main thing that worries me is what happens AFTERWARDS? This is going to be very close possibly I guess around 50/50. Either way this means that 50% of the country are going to be hugely unhappy with the result and this is absolutely bound to lead onto to trouble.

What plans are in place to make sure and ensure that we won't have to face some ugly demonstrations and some nasty situations? People feel very strongly about this either way and it can not be denied that strong feeling and politics don't mix well.

This is a serious question so I really don't want to be shot down please.

What really worries me is what will happen after a 'No' vote. Last time Scotland had the delights of being a testing ground for the poll tax. Given some of the legislation from Westminster I shudder to think what barbaric policies they will test out on us this time.

I might be the only person who moves to England in the event of a No vote!

Yes, Santana, but won't you be one of the families packing their bags? You can enjoy schadenfreude from your safe nest in the south. :)

Yep. No questioning allowed, the common cold will be cured and the weather will be tropical...

Bookies are saying 10/3 or 7/2 (other bookies are avail) for a yes vote, 1/4, 1/5 or 1/6 for no.

Where do you live MrsMagnificent? Glaswegian men are quite a short bunch.

No chance!

I did start out veering towards a yes, actually.

Not really HotCross, it's my experience that Glaswegian men are pretty short. You're welcome to disagree.

'hot new neighbours' lucky you! My most eligible neighbour is 75, sweet as he is he doesn't get my pulse racing.

I have a real concern that people will be even more turned off voting in general and politicians in particular: if the Scots vote yes, then all the things that Westminster is currently saying would be impossible will suddenly become possible Hmm;but if the Scots vote no, what happens if all the vague promises of increased powers are forgotten and/or the Barnett formula is changed and/or England the UK votes to leave the EU. Sad

Since the bloody independence polls started, they've been around one third in favour of independence (boo hiss), two thirds against (hurray!). I don't think it will be anything like 50/50 - the majority of us are far too sensible to vote for such a nonsense. What I hope will happen is that there will be a no vote and the SNP will fuck off to the far side off fuck.

It is fortunate that the Referendum has seen fit not to include the English or Welsh Electorates , otherwise our Porridge eating Buckfast swilling neighbors with their built in 60 odd Crypto communist Socialist MP,s would find themselves out of the Union quick smart.
