'I'm having a Facebook cull'

Yeah I know, another fb one, but I'm avoiding cleaning the bathroom...

Can anyone explain to me why people need to announce they're having a fb friends cull?

Followed by 'If you don't want to be deleted then reply here'

Or

'If I don't talk to you then you're getting deleted'.

Why the need to announce it? Just do it. Is it to prove to yourself that you've actually got loads of friends and everyone must love you? Does anyone else think it's attention seeking and needy?

The next time one of my fb friends announces this WIBU to tell them 'don't worry I'll delete you first' or 'bye then'.

Right, back to cleaning.

It's almost as bad as someone putting a sad face as a status and then when someone asks whats up they reply oooh couldn't possibly say on here, I'll inbox you.

I can’t think of a single sensible reason to do that, they obviously want lots of comments saying ’noooo please don’t delete me I love being your fb friend’ which is quite sad.

It doesn't bother me really. Better to know that you've disappeared because of a cull rather than wondering if it's just you and something you've done.

Attention-seeking, trying to make out they are more important than they are by making you feel lucky you are one of the privileged ones not to be culled, or alternatively, making it known that you have displeased them in some way because you no longer have very limited contact with them on FB.

I has a good old clean up of my Facebook 'friends' a while back. I decided there waa no point having people on there I spoke to on the phone or saw regularly. You'd be amazed how many 'Everything ok? Have I upset you?' texts I got from grown adults over the age of 30, two of whom I'd had lovely phone conversations with the previous day. Very odd!

It annoys me when people do that, i usually save them the hassle and delete them if i don't converse with them very much. If i need to have a clear out i tend to just get on with it only to have the people i deleted due to not speaking very often trying to add me again. lol

I used to just cull until one person REALLY took offense and stalked me for months. She had rejection issues.

I'm scared now... I just hide them Grin

love seeing status like a sad face and all the little creepy friends saying 'what's up hunni' and the reply, 'can't say on here inbox me'

love the brag status like 'such a proud mummy Callum pood in the potty or walked today, often both'

I tell you when we are not so skint we are off in holiday and I am going to post a new status every fucking hour and pictures of each my 'beautiful, clever, amazing kids' and 'wonderful husband'

re face book culling it's another show off post. you can delete without the person knowing.

Why cull?

I don't understand it - if they're actual friends/acquaintances, why the need to cull?

For me, the whole point of fb is that there are people I have not seen/spoken to for years who are reachable whenever either of us feel like a catch up.

I had a girl on my fb that tbh I hadn't had much contact with and when she announced she was doing a cull I fully expected to be culled - on her third cull I was still there and hadn't actually spoken to her in ages so deleted her. She was the only one on my fb that seemed to have loads of drama etc on there (nothing I was involved in). Now my fb is so quiet and drama free. Its bloody great.

The cryptic sad face status' are the best.

A lass on my Facebook posted loads of pictures of her toddler with gammy conjunctivitis eyes in an album called 'my poorli gurl xxxxx' last night. We were also treated to an update this morning!

I was the victim of a FB cull once. Silly cow sent me a friend request a week later, I clicked the Not Now not ever button.

A friend of mine has done this. She does have fear of rejection issues. I am so in the inner circle I get new year texts congratulating me on still being her friend and reminding me not to f* it up! Lucky me!

I love drama queens on Facebook! I have one who everytime she falls out with someone announces "had a Facebook friends clear out so if ur still ere I luffs ya! Lolz!"
She's getting married on the rebound next year and keeps changing her bridesmaids because of fall outs - it's like my own personal take a break mag!
