In a big chain hotel abroad. She's 2. She has her own room at home, but surely she's too little for her own hotel room. Makes me feel v queasy. Am I being pfb?

Some of us have children who require a full risk assessment. Hmm Would you really leave your children in a strange room without knowing it well wnough to know the risks? That is insanely dangerous.

Ds managed to get out of the cat flap yesterday.

He weighs nearly 3 stone and the cat flap is 6 inches by 6 inches square.

Dd could open her car seat and high chair when she was 2 and climb down and out in seconds. She can open all the doors in the house with keys. Over the weekend when she wanted some sweets she built a stair case (literally a stair case) to get on top of the work top then climbed in to the high cabinet. She was alone for less than 10 minutes.

Like fuck would I leave her in strange hotel room where.

Vegetarians, yes it does amaze me just how resourceful dd can be.
It's easy to sort out obvious hazards- kettle, shampoo etc, but in her bid to become a big girl, Dd does seem to be a bit of a danger zone.
Still, some v helpful suggestions.

Loving (and totally agreeing with) the "mn is a parallel universe of paranoia" quote.

Lock the kids room door from the inside & keep the adjoining door ajar, if you're really worried one of you could sleep in there with her once you've finished playing "grown up games".....

Do wonder how some people manage to leave the house.....

It's essentially the same room if you have the interconnecting door open - and with very young kids, of course you keep the door open!

I would agree to an adjoining room and leave the adjoining door open. I can kind of understand our DH's pov. When we have DD in our room it means bed at 8pm. If she were in an adjoining room we could chat, watch tv etc
