twatrose in barnet sell shampoo for a fiver that you can get for "2.99 in the savers opposite. i expect some people can't be seen in savers though

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 15/02/2014 21:28

The Waitrose essentials bubble bath etc are v good.

Crazedandconfused · 15/02/2014 21:31

The Waitrose near me always has really good reductions, I always go there if I want cheap cake :)
On the flip side I bought a reduced ready meal there once that made me so ill I was burping blow offs for 2 days!

Most of the staff in mine have been there since it was Safeway's then Morrisons so it's not quite got that classy vibe! It's kind of in the area where it's full of velour track suits from one side of town but the really posh multi million pound house lot from the other side.

NobodyIsHere · 15/02/2014 21:37

So when is the best day and time for discounts at Waitrose?

Crazedandconfused · 15/02/2014 21:42

They always seem to be there at mine! I used to go in the mornings and there was tons of reductions, just on their usual shelf rather than in one place. Far more civilised than the Asda style free for all, shudder

JohnFarleysRuskin · 15/02/2014 21:45

It is short-hand for a bit posh. Surely no one can deny it?

Minnieisthedevilmouse · 15/02/2014 21:46

I only shop there because apparently it's posh. Wouldn't hit it if....like....it was normal. I mean... People only joke about shopping in aldi don't they?

If I'm feeling street I shop in asda.

WorraLiberty · 15/02/2014 21:49

I find you get a better class of Freegans, rummaging in the bins round the back...well better than the Asda ones anyway.

alemci · 15/02/2014 21:49

I love waitrose and got spoilt when family members worked for the company and I got a discount. I still shop there and at tesco.

I like their meat and reductions. the stores have a pleasant atmosphere and I think it isn't anymore expensive for some things.

BrokenToeOuch · 15/02/2014 21:50

Someone please tell me what a trolley fucker is? Is it the same as a bus wanker?
I shop at Waitrose and am keen to avoid any trolley fuckery...

mummywithsmiles · 15/02/2014 21:54

Where I live its our main supermarket ( sw London ) then m&s ..then Iceland lol
I don't find it v expensive , there branded stuff is the same or cheaper. The waitrose own brand is a tad more expensive though.

ChasingDogs · 15/02/2014 21:58

Waitrose isn't too bad for tinned basics like your toms etc., you can do cheaper elsewhere of course but they're hardly astronomical prices for the basics.

The meat is horrendously expensive. Hit up your local butcher instead.

Some of the pre-packed deli stuff is delicious, and whilst not as highly priced as say, a rack of lamb, still something you only grab when you have extra coins jangling (they had packets of pepperoni at one point that were tiny and to die for. Genuinely addictive. I think it was Hungarian? Not been able to find them since Sad )

The one on my way to work does epic bacon sandwiches in their cafe. Think 4-5 slices of well crisped bacon on an enormous, crusty white roll.

They sell a cloudy lemonade that is above and beyond all other cloudy lemonades.

I like Waitrose. I say that as somebody who's house is cleaned by Poundland and cupboards stocked by Asda/Sainsburys smart price/own brand. Just cause I'm poor as fuck doesn't mean I can't appreciate the odd packet of amazing salami or an epic bacon sandwich. Grin

Ohbyethen · 15/02/2014 21:59

The view from our Waitrose is the multistory car park. It is nicely designed as car parks go but I feel I deserve better.

I might head over to Bloggers chat and express how outrageous it is...

JohnFarleysRuskin · 15/02/2014 21:59

Now waitrose is doing the free coffee, it's going the way of lidl.

  • not my view but those expressed on Jeremy vine the other day.
WorraLiberty · 15/02/2014 22:01

Yes but isn't everyone who shops at Lidl, addicted to crack cocaine?

daisychain01 · 15/02/2014 22:05

Waitrose rocks.

Went in there with a voucher for £20 voucher today, that we were meant to use by end of January and they honoured it, no ifs or buts.

Im planning on a tattoo on my arse "I Waitrose" thats how much I love them.

JohnFarleysRuskin · 15/02/2014 22:06

Waitrose is on a slippery slope, I tell yeh.

daisychain01 · 15/02/2014 22:08

And Im so excited I said Voucher twice.

Chippednailvarnish · 15/02/2014 22:09

Waitrose is the only supermarket where I live.

Every other week I drive 20 minutes down the road to Aldi and amuse the staff with my Waitrose reusable bags. There is very little difference in the produce, the prices however...

Ruprekt · 15/02/2014 22:11

Waitrose is bluddy brilliant.

Reductions are amazing! We only eat reduced food.

Duck crown for £2.
Hereford beef £18 down to £5.
Free asparagus
69p salmon

LadyMaryLikesCake · 15/02/2014 22:13

The East Midlands isn't worthy of a decent sized Waitrose so we have to make do with a poxy titchy store that sells naff all Angry They also won't deliver here either it's not as if we smell

All of your Waitrose threads make me Envy

Ubik1 · 15/02/2014 22:17

I am very disappointed in our local Waitrose as it has introduced a chocolate aisle next to the tills and those horrid self service checkouts

I would love to have a Waitrose within striking distance - nearest is 50 miles away Sad

Nocomet · 15/02/2014 22:20

The cafe in our Waitrose is immaculate, expensively dressed pensioners on a week day and MC mum's and DCs (often with wet hair, from swimming) in the holidays.
