Soup and cheese

When I was on holiday I discovered the delicious soup and cheese combo, which I didn't even know was a thing before!

Does anyone else have soup with grated cheese in it?

In the interests of my stomach, what soups and what cheeses do people like together?

Minestrone with Parmesan
Leek and potato with gruyere

Heinz tomato soup with white bread and cheese cubes

I love Heinz tomato with grated cheddar. Or parsnip with grated gruyere. Lovely!

Brocoli and stilton flavour

Okay it's not soup and cheese, but chicken soup with crushed pickled onion crisps on the top is fab. I just don't do it in front of anyone though they may think I am odd.

Leek and potato with feta is AWESOME.

Chunky home made leek and potato (Rose Elliot recipe) topped with the strongest of strong grated cheddar.

I make a very nice tomato soup - then when I'm reheating a portion for my lunch, I break an egg into it so that I get a poached egg in it. Lush.

Trying this tomorrow. Just have to choose which one!

I just discovered broccoli with cheddar - turns disgusting, but has to be done so as not to be wasteful, soup into delicious. It's an amazing revelation!

(I keep the stalks in the freezer rather than chuck them, but then really used to resent the soup i then made ).

Also stilton and celery is very nice, rose eliot, i believe.

Wensleydale cheese soup is amazing - it's basically onion soup with grated wensleydale dropped in just before serving. Got the original recipe from the Covent Garden soup recipe book years back and it took a while to realise that's all it is!

Though I now need to try a poached egg in soup
