To get the rage when adults say Ta?

First world problem I am aware but this really gives me The Rage. Anyone over about the age of 5 should not be allowed to say this I am looking at you DP. In fact I am not that keen on under fives saying it either.

I never understood the use of the word ta. I (silently) judge people who say it.

I actually don't mind it, but its quite a popular word here anyway.

Yes thanks/thank you is nicer, but its better than nothing.

It's a regional thing. Round here everyone says 'ta'.

I was just about to ask if it's regional. Everyone round my way says it. I say it. I tech DS to say it. I like it. It's informal and nice.

I didn't realise it was judge worthy - what's the 'judginess' factor? that it's common? that it's an abbreviation?

I think its regional. Round here if you say 'thankyou' in school you get called 'posh' acording to dd.

Yeah, it's a dialect thing. So YABU. You'd have to be a proper snob to sneer at it where I live.

Ta is quite common up here in Scottishland too.

Sometimes people also say "cheers" in place of Ta/Thank you.

Um, it's normal parlance round here. I couldn't care less how people say thank you, as long as they do! Keep your judginess to yourself, ta very much.

Didn't the ta debate happen recently or am I dreaming this?

It's a saying I personally dislike but doesn't fuck me off like soneone saying girly, drinky or having a cheeky one.
