Going to a party tomorrow. Lovely couple. No gift list. Spoke to the chap and asked what they would like. He replies a new bed. So monetary gift towards that. Ok that's fine but how much do I give ? We are not close as such. These sort of things really stress me out. My husband says a card and fifty pound should do it. Does that sound right ?

I wish I was joking. Those were her exact words. I just said oh ok have a lovely evening and shot off to the bar. Oh well as someone else said they can use the fizz to get them in the mood haha.

Blimey. Engagement presents of cash expected?! I'm shocked.

BringMeTea · 16/02/2014 17:46

OMG! That is shocking. To actually say those words in the expectation of cash is staggering OP. so very very rude. Gosh. Do you feel differently about her. I would. Wow!

I think it was a little off if I'm honest. I'm glad I listened to others on here and took the fizz. I'm shocked that she presumed there was money in the card.

I think she was really rude and cheeky, pp said before though that it used to b e the start of collecting your 'bottom drawer' when people didn't have a home so in some areas its probably tradition not grabby.

The cheek of this woman is amazing though!!!
